The catholic war on condoms continues

,

There are no lies so evil as those being spouted within the hierarchy of the Roman church. They are so bent on their narrow doctrines that they are willing to sacrifice generation upon generation of Africans to AIDS. Christopher Hitchens recounts in his book god is not Great about a human trash that goes by the name of Alfonso Lopez Trujillo, Catholic Cardinal and president of the Pontifical Council for the Family, who declares that condoms are manufactured with holes in them to allow HIV to pass through. Not to be outdone, another liar-for-god comes up with an even more malicious lie:
Shock at archbishop condom claim

The head of the Catholic Church in Mozambique has told the BBC he believes some European-made condoms are infected with HIV deliberately.

Maputo Archbishop Francisco Chimoio claimed some anti-retroviral drugs were also infected "in order to finish quickly the African people".

The Catholic Church formally opposes any use of condoms, advising fidelity within marriage or sexual abstinence.

Aids activists have been angered by the remarks, one calling them "nonsense".

"We've been using condoms for years now, and we still find them safe," prominent Mozambican Aids activist Marcella Mahanjane told the BBC.

No sir, it's not European condoms that are to blame. It's retards like you who are partly culpable for this avoidable epidemic. Your god doesn't exist and your church is getting in the way of proper sex education and widespread condom use in the continent.

I have to agree, which is ironic of me to some minds. Why? Well, I'm not an atheist.

I'm not even anti-Catholic really, but the church leaders' policies on family planning and sexual activity are beyond ridiculous. Mind you, these men are extremely naive about sexuality. Nearly all of them have grown up in the confines of a monastic life. For them, life without sexual activity is all that they know. That others don't feel as they do is bizarre to them.

Also, given their separation from poverty, they can't relate to the plights of their starving followers. The old policies worked in a world with little hope and no future prospects, i.e., the Dark Ages.

Those days are gone, and the Church must change to fit the present day. Until then, it will be a source of pain and suffering for so many.

You don't have to be an atheist to be disgusted with what the Roman church is teaching in Africa. The people need credible information about safe sex, not lies and distortions. Even my devout protestant mother bemoans the rigid anti-prophylactic policy of the Papist hierarchy. While she is the last person who'd support promiscuity, she knows that the condom has its place in our world.

(Now that I think about it, she kinda reminds me of the protestant couple in Monty Python's Meaning of Life. Hehehe p:)

This is why I hate the muddle-headed assertions of religious and political authority figures. They instill enough doubt and self-doubt in their followers that they can say anything and be believed. Next thing you know, along comes a closet murderer like this jerk, or Dr. Olive Oil and people listen and die. These are acts of terrorism that result in death, yet there is no mechanism by which these people can be arrested for their crimes.

This is my first post as an Opera member, so I hope I got the tags right.

Lester Cavestany writes:

The church in the Philippines is also getting in the way of proper sex education and widespread condom use in the country. Patricia Evangelista explained this very well in her article entitled, "Sex, lies, and the Catholic Church" in the Inquirer last August 26, 2007. Here's the link: http://opinion.inquirer.net/inquireropinion/columns/view_article.php?article_id=84738
