Metallica, my favorite metal band despite all the stupid things they've said and done in the last several years, will be releasing a new album this year. It's gonna be called Death Magnetic and the artwork will look like this:

My first reaction? The Unforgiven III? WTF?!? Sure, the Unforgiven is a great song, and The Unforgiven II is at least passable. But now they have a third Unforgiven song. When will it end?

On a happier note, the band promises that the sound will be closer to their earlier, thrash-metal music. I sure hope so. My favorite album is Ride the Lightning, and I like the title track of that album and Kill 'Em All's Seek and Destroy. C'mon Metallica boys, make good on your promise. You owe me the money I wasted on Load, ReLoad, and St. Anger!

Anyway... I think Load & ReLoad weren't that bad at all... They're just Metallica trying to come up with something new... I haven't heard of St. Anger songs except from Frantictic...

If I want to try something new, I'd listen to Blink 182 (which I don't). Anyway, I still think they'd do best to return to thrash.

I can't wait for my pre-ordered CD to arrive already. (I know it's been leaked in p2p.)

Then again, what I've heard on "Death Magnetic" is the best stuff since The Black Album, although it seems as though they're trying too hard sometimes.
