You won't believe how much directions can help! Why, just yesterday I read from a cup of McDonalds coffee that the content is extremely hot. Boy, that was a life saver, I can tell you that much.

Dan,
Thanks for the suggestions for my blog title. I am still thinking about it, but I really like Misfiring Synapses.

Btw, I enjoyed reading your blog and checking out your links!

Hey, I'm just dropping by 'cos you made a comment in my entry with the Earthbound screenshots, and I wanted to answer your questions found therein.

The game isn't racy. It's called Earthbound, an old game for the Super Nintendo, and in it, you're allowed to name your favorite food, and that food is talked about throughout the game. When I started playing again, I named it, well, what you saw in the screenshot, for shits and giggles. P: That picture is two legit screenshots I took and pasted together in MS Paint.

Hope that answered your questions.

I read a comment of yours on a blog about Matt Hughes and spirituality. I couldn't disagree with you more!!!! Of course Matt Hughes is the most dominant welterweight in history....thats why he is the 8 time defending champion!!! He has by far the best pound for pound ground and pound in the business!!! And as far as bringing Pride fighting into the mix....Pride fighters dream of making it into the UFC....not the other way around!!!! Pride fighters are a bunch of sloppy boxers....i guess you think Bushido is considered quality "international comeptition" as well!?!?!?!?

By anonymous user, # 23. December 2005, 23:23:29

Hey there. Yes, fighters want to go to the UFC, because it pays big and you're less likely to get damaged or injured (great if you're in it for the money and not for the sport). Matt Hughes is the most dominant welterweight in the UFC today. He won't last in a real competition with real fighters. Chuck Liddell went to the Pride Middleweight tournament and he got trounced by a former UFC veteran who couldn't win a title in Pride. Yet in the UFC Liddell beats the best fighters in their shallow talent pool. That tells you something, don't it? Vitor Belfort represented the UFC in this year's tournament, and he got guillotine-choked by a non-grappler.

Would Matt Hughes do any better? Unless Zuffa releases their chokehold in his career and let him fight in a deeper talent environment, we'll never know.

Thanks for visiting. :D

its not that they are less likely to get "damaged" its that they are more disciplined.....pride fights to some can be seen as more "exciting" fights because, like i said before, they are a bunch of sloppy boxers...wreckless and so quick to throw a flury of punches and kicks, it becomes a slug fest....and compare Hughes to liddel???? theres no comparison in the welterweight and middle/heavy weights...the talent pool all together lessens when you get to the big boys....being as it is hard to find boys of that size with any agility...the welterweight division is one of the easiest divisions to stack because it is a common weight for the average man...does that make sense!?!?!? so with all that competition, you still have Matt Hughes coming out on top....i would like to see him fight more than just 1 fight every 4-5 months....but he doesnt...and do you know why?!!!?!? because he doesnt have to....hes already fought 44 fights in his career....and the past 8 of them have been to defend his title....hes proven he can hang....you are seeing history in the making and you dont even know it....or youre just not paying attention to it....

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

BJ Penn is arguably the best pound for pound MMA fighter. He's definitely better than Hughes.

I have been paying attention. And all I see is an overhyped above average fighter having a free ride fighting mediocre opponents. And again, Pride has better talent. Sloppy boxing? It seems someone isn't paying attention, and it's not me.

Happy holidays! :D

Wow, I see that you are a groupie for Matt Hughes. Rational conversation with you is pretty much useless, but I'll try one last time. You're blinded by your hero-worship for an overrated fighter. BJ Penn beats Matt Hughes from a submission, remember? And you say how can anyone know who he is? That tells me your knowledge of the MMA scene is pretty superficial at best. Anyone worth his salt knows who BJ Penn is, and what he has accomplished in the sport.

You're like the weekend UFC viewer. You don't know anything else about MMA, but still thinks that what you see in the occasional UFC tournament is enough to get an understanding of the whole scene. Thankfully, no one else would take you seriously. Matt Hughes is great at what he does, but he's just an above average fighter in a weak talent pool. He's not even the best fighter in his weight division in all of MMA.

I saw a top 12 list compiled by a Sherdog contributor. Of the 12 fighters, only four are from the UFC (and BJ Penn only recently signed up with Zuffa). The rest are Pride mainstays. You see, unlike you, we know who the best fighters are, and aren't swayed by cheap hype and gimmicks. UFC is no longer the best promotion in the world. Their talent pool is a pittance, their styles pretty unimpressive. Matt Hughes got a no. 3 in that list, but notice that no. 2 is Takanori Gomi, the same weight division as Hughes. Like I said, Hughes isn't the best fighter at 170 lbs.

Now be a dear and learn about other promotions, other fighters, other fights. You're just embarrassing yourself.

its not that my knowledge of MMA is "superficial", its that i personally dont care one ioda for BJ Penn..he has had some nice victories, i wont take that away from him (and yes one of them being Hughes)..but like Tito Ortiz, there are just some people you love to hate!!! im not as blind as you think to other "promotions"...ive seen Pride, Bushido, KOTC, EC (extreme challege as you had asked what it was in a previous post), GC, Shooto, and UFC....and if you ask me, i was not impressed at all!!!! Pride would maybe come in a close second....but thats what it is....second! i will admit, i like Wanderlei Silva...Vitor Belfort has the heart of a lion...and Yves Edwards knockout in his UFC debut was impressive, but i just cant see myself sitting down on a fiday nite with a beer and wanting to watch a Pride pay per view over UFC! Gomi is fighting in the 160lbs. weightclass in BUSHIDO....i alsmost punched myself in the face the last time i watched one of their pay per views....it was a bunch of crazy little asians flying thru the air...one of them being Gomi...and im supposed to be impressed??? thats the great "international competition" you speak of?!?!? every sanctioned fight is "overhyped and full of gimmicks" the asians are just as much if not more into the hype of the sport....you just dont know it because you cant understand the language (and if you can then you know) ha...but UFC has found a champion that is HUMBLE and not full of himself or the hype that is thrown at him (yeas im speaking if Matt Hughes)...and on the subject of sherdog...sherdog as well as numerous other MMA sites have proclaimed Hughes to be the pound for pound most feared fighter in MMA....and as far as the top 12 list....of course therye going to put a heavyweight as the best fighter....and considering the fact that i dont think Andre Arlovski is anything special...(but i would like to see him fight Frank Mir, who is making his comeback in Feb)

ive grown up around this shit...i remember as a little girl (yes, you are arguing with a chick) watching mark Coleman make his UFC debut...ive been to live Pride, KOTC, and UFC events...i have friends who trained with the Lions Den down here in SD and competed in Pride events (we drove all the way out to Vegas for a fight and he knocked out his opponent in less than 10 seconds)...and im a "follower" and friend of Jason MaYhEm Miller....groupie???? NO....fan???? yes......so my "dear" say what you want, notthing you have said to this point has impressed and/or changed my mind. lets not forget that Gomi was defeated by Penn by submission as well....damn that boy just keeps getting lucky!!!! tee hee

i hope you know i mean no ill will towards you....i think this is healthy confrontation...i wonder what your topr 10 list of fighters is (so i know what your idea of "quality fighting" is...and moreover what brought you to the "Matt Hughes and spirituality" site?!?!?!? also, are you still in the P.I.? i was born in Manila but moved when i was only a year old.....

take care

I'm a fan of TLD due to the philosophy that he espouses. He's libertarian, atheist, a skeptic and a moral relativist. But, generally, it seems the blogosphere has a lot more libertarian, atheist, objectivists than moral relativists. Cheers!

HD, I hope you and your loved ones are safe and sound. I just read about the landslide. It's in Manila, but I don't know how far you are from there. In any event, take care.

Peace out.

Thanks for the concern Joni. I am profoundly saddened by this latest calamity. There were already minor landslides occuring around the area where the big one hit. Yet no one ever checked to see if the entire area is at rist for a greater disaster. It's just heartbreaking.

BTW, the landslide happened on a rural town in the island of Leyte, far from Manila. Here's a map of our catatrophe-prone archipelago. Manila is in the main island to the north. Leyte is at the middle.
