Vista in blue

,

I've only been using Windows Vista a few days on my desktop PC and I've already experienced two BSODs (a rarity on XP). I probably should've listened to my gut feeling and waited for SP1 before getting Vista. Curses! :irked:

Oh yes, when it come's to Windows OS it's better to be a follower and not a leader  I managed to hold off XP to SP2...(and to be honest, XP has given me none of the grief previous Windows versions have, so I'm in no hurry...)

True, but I was persuaded to try Vista because it's the "future" of the Windows platform. I wanted to know how well Vista could run on my old machine (AthlonXP 3600 with 1GB RAM) and if it'll run my games. Also, the new security features of Vista is very appealing.

I'll probably reformat my PC and install XP one last time. Vista needs at least another year before it can really be a better alternative to XP. Let's hope software developers would update their programs to be Vista-compatible by then.

Thanks for posting.

 I think at least a year wait is a good rule-of-thumb. We'll probably make the transition to Vista at work first, and after that experience I'll decide whether to move it to home PC.

I haven't had any security problems at home, but do run a good suite of security software in tandem with XP.

So far, I'd rate the 98SE and XP OS as giving me the 'best' windows experience. But as I mentioned above- I waited until SP1 and 2 came out before making the move.

...Linux is also tempting me at home.
