Google mail IMAP and Opera

- Mail that exist in multiple IMAP folders somehow displays twice in your "Unread" folder
- You can't use filters to move things around in your IMAP folders
- The IMAP folders takes up a bit of space in your sidebar
Especially the second point is a bit annoying, because it either means you'll need to configure all filters on your gMail account, or manually move the mail around. Crossing my fingers for even better IMAP support!
"Mail that exist in multiple IMAP folders somehow displays twice in your "Unread" folder"
Because GMail puts your new mails into the Inbox AND into the All mail folder also. I simply delete all mails in Inbox folder before even read them, that also fprses GMAil to "archive" these mails. After than, I have only one instance of new mails in the Opera's Unread folder

...that also FORCES GMAil to...

Two problems (or perhaps the same problem). I get duplicate copies of each individual message. And, every time Opera checks and syncs mail I receive all my existing messages again, and again...
Wondering if you may know of a fix. Thanks

I tried that but it never actually gets saved, Opera says unsubscribing from Folder, but just comes right back.

Agreed, that does not work, they autosubscribe themselves back again...
what works for me is to filter by google itself:
You filter the messages from your inbox directly to your archive, however still unread! This way it shows in your opera, but no longer in the google inbox, however still in all messages.
STEP1
===
OPTION 1)
click
http://mail.google.com/mail/#settings/filters
or
OPTION 2 (in case 1 doenst work)
go to gmail
Then top right, choose settings
then filters
====
STEP2
click create a new filter
====
STEP3
in the fill in box
"TO":
you type: <youremailadres>@gmail.com
click "next step"
select "skip inbox (archive it)"
click "create filter"
You do the same with
<youremailadres@googlemail.com>
It works for me all mails are only once in gmail!

The solution I had for this was to delete the IMAP account and recreate it was a POP account. If you email doesn't support POP then im not sure what to tell you.
