Henar´s Blog

Good art is not what it looks like, but what it does to us.

Web Design

, , , ...

Here are some images from the web I´m designing for TRH Hotels. You can visit the site, though it´s still not finished.

I created the corporate identity for the company, and I´ve also done lots of brochures, signs, event organisation, publicity in newspaper and magazines... my job is real fun!!!!

Creative Product Design

Take a look at these creative designs by David Olschewski:

I love fun and creative design like this... brings a smile to my face!

Color...

, , , ...

I found a very nice web page called COLOR IN MOTION, where you can "play" with colours and learn their symbolism and the different emotions you can communicate with each one.

Very interesting and simple approach to this theme. The artist, Claudia Cortés, has designed an interactive and fun way to learn with different activities and projetcs. The LAB section is really fun!!! You can create and direct a scene, be a star manager, and play with a kaleidoscope.

Drawing with WORDS

Here´s a nice ad for an English School using only WORDS...

LIFE HAS NO SUBTITLES... indeed!!!

Interesting artist: Nils Nova

, , , ...

Nils Nova's installations are designed to subvert our perception of time and our assumptions about space.

In his projetcs he mixes techniques like ink-jet prints on blueback-paper pasted on the wall, paintings on boards, photography, everyday objects or people.

I find his work fascinating... I´ve always been interested in works on the way we perceive the reality around us, and I especially like the way the artist shows this in his installations. They appear to be so clean and simple... and leave us thinking about so many complex ideas...
Lovely work! Here are some examples from his web site:

Art quotes

, , , ...

I shut my eyes in order to see.
Paul Gauguin

It is all very well, when the pen flows, but then there are the dark days when imagination deserts one, and it is an effort to put anything down on paper. That little you have achieved stares at you at the end of the day, and you know the next morning you will have to scrape it down and start again.
Elizabeth Aston, The True Darcy Spirit, 2006

To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.
Joseph Chilton Pearce

It doesn't matter if people are interested. It's about you taking your stuff and shouting out into the void.
Jadelr and Cristina Cordova, Chasing Windmills, 2006

The painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through.
Jackson Pollock

Some small sketches...

, , , ...

You know those small sketches people do while they´re talking to someone on the telephone? Those you do when you´re just not thinking about what you´re drawing. Well, here are some from my sketchbook... they just have no purpose, they don´t mean anything, and are not connected in any way. I just like the way they look...
And it´s also relaxing to do this kind of drawings once in awhile. Don´t you think so?

Expo Zaragoza 2008

, , , ...

The International Expo "Water and Sustainable Development", takes place in Zaragoza until the 14th september.
There´s lots of events, shows, concerts and exhibitions going on, and it looks really fun. I plan to visit hopefully this summer. Until then, I leave you a selection of images from some of the pavilions. Hope you like them!

My favourite is the Bridge over the River Ebro, designed by the Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, the first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize.... beautiful, isn´t it?

Paintings

Some of my paintings using the technique of blobs of drawing ink. The ink makes beautiful shapes on the canvas, doesn´t it?
