Design for a Magazine

Since February, I am in charge of designing the magazine for a Breast Cancer Research Group.
Usually, this type of magazines have a very dull design, serious and sometimes even sad, with old people on the cover, or other not too happy and nice images. I just wondered why most of the magazines dealing with sad or difficult matters, like Cancer, had to convey this feeling.
So, my first challenge was to design something which was nice to look at, even pretty. I wanted the cover to be powerful, with colours, not the usual bleak and depressing image.
This is the first cover I designed:
I am actually quite happy with the result, and so were they.

Felix, it´s true that people tend to do that, and I think it´s a mistake. Too bad for them!!!!!
Also, as a designer it´s great working for this company, because clearly they have new ideas, and they are prepared to do different things, which, for a client is rare.
