The main reason why I studied Art and finally ended working as a graphic designer was the influence my grandfather´s life and work had on me.

You probably have never heard his name before, but I´m sure you know his work. There´s a few "Wows" in his professional life: Stanley Kubrick, David Lean, Stephen King, John Milius, Elia Kazan, David Lynch...

He worked as a set decorator, and was responsible for many of the visual, special effects and miniatures on more than 600 films all over the world. His work can be seen in films like Doctor Zhivago (David Lean), Conan The Barbarian (John Milius), Conan The Destroyer (Richard Fleischer), Dune (David Lynch), The Fall of the Roman Empire (Anthony Mann), Spartakus (Stanley Kubrick), Lawrence of Arabia (David Lean), Pan´s Labyrinth (Guillermo del Toro) and many more.

He was known as the special effects wizard, because he had a special talent creating all kinds of visual effects to deceive the camera. His imagination was enviable, and he invented new effects and techniques which are currently used in films around the world.

He loved his job, and he enjoyed the challenge every new film involved. My grandfather was a great inspiration for everyone who knew him. He continued working until his death last year.
