people, brillar, shine, brillante
...
My brother sent me this very interesting quote today (THANKS ZULLO!!!!):
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” (Marianne Williamson)

No Art without passion.
Henri Matisse
After all these years I have observed that beauty, like happiness, is frequent. A day does not pass when we are not for an instant, in paradise.
Jorge Luis Borges
Art is the pleasure of a mind that sees through the Nature and discovers she has a soul.
Auguste Rodin
Beauty is lost in life, but is immortal in Art.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

client, thinking, design, quote
...
I hate it when clients look at a logo, painting or any other form of art a designer created and not very delicately say: "It couldn't have taken you more than 10 minutes to design that"... or "Even a child could have done that". Here´s a story for all of them...
Legend has it that Pablo Picasso was sketching in the park when a woman approached him.
“It’s you — Picasso, the great artist! Oh, you must sketch my portrait! I insist.”
So Picasso agreed to sketch her. After studying her for a moment, he used a single pencil stroke to create her portrait. He handed the woman his work of art.
“It’s perfect!” she gushed. “You managed to capture my essence with one stroke, in one moment. Thank you! How much do I owe you?”
“Five thousand dollars,” the artist replied.
“B-b-but, what?” the woman sputtered. “How could you want so much money for this picture? It only took you a second to draw it!”
To which Picasso responded, “Madame, it took me my entire life.”

"To design is much more than simply to assemble, to order, or even to edit; it is to add value and meaning, to illuminate, to simplify, to clarify, to modify, to dignify, to dramatize, to persuade, and perhaps even to amuse".

I shut my eyes in order to see.
Paul Gauguin
It is all very well, when the pen flows, but then there are the dark days when imagination deserts one, and it is an effort to put anything down on paper. That little you have achieved stares at you at the end of the day, and you know the next morning you will have to scrape it down and start again.
Elizabeth Aston, The True Darcy Spirit, 2006
To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.
Joseph Chilton Pearce
It doesn't matter if people are interested. It's about you taking your stuff and shouting out into the void.

In a picture, it should be possible to discover new things every time you see it. But you can look at a picture for a week together and never think of it again. You can also look at a picture for a second and think of it all your life.
(Joan Miro)
