Good art is not what it looks like, but what it does to us.

The FUN Theory

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

Would you change your normal behaviour just for FUN?????
Can fun encourage people to change their daily routines?

Check this great street marketing action: THE PIANO STAIRCASE.

The Fun Theory, an interesting initiative by Volkswagen: Fun can obviously change behaviour for the better!!!! There´s even a Fun Theory Award, for the best ideas that prove that fun is the easiest way to change people´s behaviour for the better.

Two great quotes by Paul RandExplore. Dream. Discover.

I love this idea and would be going up a few, back a few and so on. We could use this type of stair for the better.

I'll bet it was expensive to build, however.

Henar 2. November 2009, 18:18

I would play around too... I´m thinking it´s probably not too easy trying to play a tune on it...
Yes, it must have been expensive to build. There´s a lot of other fun projects in the web.

Damn. It's a so old [:]/\/\/\[:] http://pic.ipicture.ru/uploads/091102/M63a1NWqTW.jpg Crap VW.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Too bad it took people so long to (re)discover this basic truth: we are much more likely to do things - and do them well - for fun rather than a reward. Not to mention avoiding a punishment: that never works.

Henar 7. November 2009, 11:22

I agree with you, Claudeb! Punishments are never a good idea.

It's more than just an ideal. As far as I know, it's scientifically proven.

Henar 27. November 2009, 09:02

It is scientifically proven. I wonder, then, why since we´re babies, parents usually use the reward/punishment options, more than the fun theory...

Felix Pleşoianu 27. November 2009, 19:33

Well, how many people you know actually understand and trust science? How many people you know assume good faith in others by default?

Henar 28. November 2009, 16:57

Mmmmmmmmm.... good point!!!!

Felix Pleşoianu 29. November 2009, 07:14

Oh, and it also takes patience. Real patience.

cool idea! Out of all the German automakers, VW seems the least pretentious, and more focused on a more child-like (in a good way!) approach to design. I saw their factory on the Rhine while I was on a DB train..it was cool looking!

Henar 3. December 2009, 14:03

EasyD44, talking about a child-like approach to things, you made me remember the amazing architect Hundertwasser used to say that he had always wanted to construct a house like the ones children used to draw. He believed that children´s minds were not so contaminated as adults´, so a house designed by a child would be more natural for men to live in.
 I´m thinking I´ll write a post about this original man sometime this week...
