Went A Visitin'
Tuesday, 25. August 2009, 20:03:20
I'm back from my weekend at my parents house.
We had a great visit, it was lots of fun. Of course I took some pics to blog with! I thought I'd show you where I grew up.
**8-25-09 -- I just realized I left a photo out!
~~~Friday afternoon~~~
I loaded up my car and began the long drive to see my family. At least there is a lot of countryside to look at on the way.
Trees and hills, rivers and creeks....
There are many cattle ranches and horse farms as well.
After a loooong drive and chatting on my phone with D (which was GREAT!) I made it to town.
Coming into town I crossed over this bridge (I have no idea of it's name).
When I was in the 4-H Horse Club we rode in a parade with all our fancy green attire.
Sun was spiffied up with a green breast collar,green saddle blanket, and green leg wraps.
I had on my green 4-H jacket. (mom, no pics of this? Really?)
They lined us up two by two by the height of the horses. Sun is fairly tall so I was near the end with the other tall horses. Well, those in front got us behind and when they got to the bottom of this hill they began galloping to catch up. Those of us just topping the hill ended up galloping DOWN this hill.
Sun was sliding on the pavement (he had on flat trail shoes) and I couldn't stop him from galloping. He was just going with the herd. It was so scary!
Just off of the highway, I turn and drive a ways and go over this hill.
When I get to the bottom I follow the road to the left and there is my parent's home.
I've been sledding down this hill and trudged over it many, many times from the bus stop to home after school.
Here we are at mom and dad's driveway.
(**This is the photo I forgot to put in originally!)
One of the first things I did when I arrived was let the dogs out to stretch their legs and have a run about. Mom and dad live somewhat in the country on several acres of land, so there is no danger of cars or anything like that. My sick Magnus almost immediately goes sniffing around and follows a trail to the back patio where he finds one of my mother's cats.
Well, I spent the next few minutes running through the woods chasing a cat, followed by Magnus, then Fred (my parent's dog), and Bella (who seemed to be more along for the jog and site seeing).
~~~Saturday~~~
Pretty flowers and plants on the back patio.
Bella had such a good time this trip. She clearly remembered the last trip and didn't seem to worry at all that she might get left there. She got lots of pets and scratches from my family and explored all over the place. Dad had mowed most of the acreage so it was easy to walk among the trees. Bella did not want to come indoors! She ran and played the whole weekend.
Here she is wandering, escorted by my parent's handsome dog, Fred. He's such a sweetie!
On Saturday I went to lunch with my in-laws and then shopping with my mom and my MIL. That was a good time. After shopping I was exhausted and achy all over. I laid down on the heating pad and quickly fell asleep. I vaguely remember mom asking me about dinner and me telling her for them to go (out the restaurant) without me. Naturally Hermit called 5 minutes later and I was wide awake after that.
~~~Sunday~~~
This is the family portrait!
these are our feet.
Mine are in flip flops and painted toe nails.
Left of me are my brother's dirty work shoes.
Across from me are my Dad's manly feet. He raised his big toes up and says that is way of saying "Hi" to the bloggers!
Right of me are my mother's cute footsies.
It was a really nice visit and I enjoyed it a lot.
After 160 miles, 3 hours in the car, $2 of toll gate fees, 1 bathroom stop, 1 bottle of DejaBlue purified water, 1 roll of Sweet Tarts, and many, many sing-alongs to the radio, I arrived safely home Sunday afternoon.
Hermit was unable to go this time due to work, but missed me bunches (as I did him) so we chatted on the phone several times. He was supposed to have the day off but got called to go in. I was on my way home (but still 2+ hours away) so Hermit told them he would not leave until I got home and he got to see me for a few minutes.
The dogs were exhausted and napped the rest of the day. Near bedtime Bella put herself to bed in her crate.
It's good to hear that you had a very nice time with your family, even though that kitty shouldn't have been treed!
And your parents live in a very idyllic-looking area
(No kitties were harmed in the making of this blog post.)
Adele -- Thanks!
They like trees! Lots and lots of trees!
