If Only I Were As Cool As My Dogs Think I am!

Welcome To My Somewhat Coherent Babbling

Merry Christmas!

,

Oh yah, I said it.... MERRY CHRISTMAS!

up

I've been busy today getting ready for the festive Christmas holiday. So far I wrapped the gifts in probably what is the worse wrapping job I've ever done (sorry mom). I stacked the gifts up and realized about 3 inches of my mom's gift was not even covered with paper on one side. left Then on others I had to tap and mold the wrapping paper around the gift because they were oddly shaped and did not lie flat. right And on another there's a large gap on the top that will be hidden by a bow once we reach our destination. Hey it's still the thought that counts right?

I've also been making my great Aunt Verna's chex mix recipe, altered of course. I've been baking this stuff for 5 hours now and still not done! I'm making several batches to share with our families. They're gonna be so happy! happy Homemade Chex Mix is way better than store bought, plus I can make it extra spicy! chef yum!

As I've completely fallen off my blogging, you'd think I'd have bunches of things to tell you but I really don't. doh

What in the wooorld is Chex Mix??
Sounds like it would break my teeth off.

My wrapping is never amazing, but been as everybody rips it off anyway i'm not a believer in perfect wrappage! Long as it's covered enough to cause mystery for a few seconds then the job is done happy

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Sunday, December 18, 2011 9:47:48 AM

Usually i go with The Bag It Came In, because otherwise the gerbils have to do it, and the poor guys get so stressed this time of year...

ShallowMuse Sunday, December 18, 2011 3:22:00 PM

Harry loooves the spicy Chex mix.. I had some while i was there but wasn't nuts about it. Harhar.

Ugh i HATE wrapping stuff, i prefer gift bags up

Uh HERM! Whenever did feelings come into the mix with the gerbils??

Lulixxylu Sunday, December 18, 2011 5:50:44 PM

*strokes gerbils*
*squints at Gavin and Bianca*

But more importantly, what is it??
Don't make me be boring and use Google...

*shrinks back in fear*

Mad Scientistqlue Sunday, December 18, 2011 6:40:42 PM

There's people at the better shops that will do the wrapping for you. up .

Lulixxylu Sunday, December 18, 2011 7:22:38 PM

And they'll charge a fortune for it and people are still going to rip it open! Might as well let them rip up your money!
It's all about the thought and being together at the end of the day, not how perfect the corners are p

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Sunday, December 18, 2011 7:40:13 PM

bigeyes

Well THANK YOU OPERA for NOT notifying me of any comments. doh

Chex Mix is a blend of cereals and nuts and pretzels that you make an oil seasoning blend to mix in and then you bake it on low heat until it's all crispy. up It's pretty tasty but not something I eat a lot unless it's home made.

I used Cheerios, Kix, Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, stick pretzels, and mixed nuts in mine. Then you mix oil, garlic salt, savory, celery salt, worchestershire sauce, and tobasco together and mix it all up. I don't know how much of those things are in other parts of the world so you may still not know what I'm talking about left

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Sunday, December 18, 2011 7:43:24 PM

There's a link. There are many variations on Chex Mix recipes but my great aunt verna makes the BEST kind! wink

True! But I'd still like the packages to at least be completely covered. p

It's obviously my attention to detail that makes me awesome. bigsmile

lol Yes although...i have never had that problem cause...i know how much paper i have compared to present size? p

And i imagine if your presents were perfectly wrapped your family would have one less thing to laugh at you for on christmas Day wink

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Sunday, December 18, 2011 11:14:16 PM

I covered it up! wink

Hopefully no one will notice left

kirsten kirstycat Monday, December 19, 2011 12:05:03 PM

The wrapping doesn't matter at all! I agree with Lu, as long as it's covered it's still an exciting, mysterious and fun thing to be given! If anything the more messier the wrapping the better, as you don't feel so bad tearing it apart! Actually, no wrapping at all is still just as exciting (although not very mysterious)

That chex mix stuff sounds very strange indeed! Is it for nibbling with your fingers like you would with a sweet cereal, or does it all stick together like a big chocolate crispy cake? smile

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Monday, December 19, 2011 5:01:21 PM

No it does not stick together at all, it's dry once it's cooked. We eat it like we would popcorn or chips (crisps in your part of the world wink) The cereals we use aren't very sweet so it's a savory snack rather than a sweet one.

Thank you Adele! I hope you have a very merry one yourself! love

Well, it's why it's called "chex" mix p Because of all the Chex cereal left bigsmile

Lulixxylu Monday, December 19, 2011 5:59:16 PM

How does one say Chex? Checks? Chess? Because we don't use the letter X as a substitute for other letters here you see, so i'm never sure how to pronounce it and all.

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Monday, December 19, 2011 6:02:55 PM

"Chex" like "Checks" unless you are okie like me then it's more like "Che-uh-cks" p

Lulixxylu Monday, December 19, 2011 6:06:29 PM

Ooo i wanna talk like an okie. I'm gonna put an uh in everything!

He-uh-llo. I'ma Lu-uh-cy! Ya'll.

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Monday, December 19, 2011 6:09:55 PM

well it doesn't work quite like that. Hello is more like "Hellah" (although we do actually pronounce Hello right a lot p) and Lucy would be more like "Luceh"
Depends on the words really. seems like things that end with a vowel sound end up with a "uh" at the end of it -- examples: "Winduh" "yelluh" rather than the "O" sound.

Lulixxylu Monday, December 19, 2011 8:41:23 PM

hmmmmmmmmmm *takes notes*

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Tuesday, December 20, 2011 2:40:30 PM

I had a dream last night where I put on Lindsay's accent to escape Asian drug gangsters. Inspired, unfortunately, by an old school friend who escaped by the noose.

Lulixxylu Tuesday, December 20, 2011 5:06:20 PM

I have a dream two nights ago where Bianca was a ghetto hip-hop dancer who always wore a blue track suit and had braided hair with those little bangle things on the end. She also rapped.

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, December 20, 2011 5:31:01 PM

That would be cool! up

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, December 20, 2011 8:35:45 PM

lol . You wouldn't have survived the eighties then Bianca. p .

ShallowMuse Tuesday, December 20, 2011 9:14:34 PM

Anyone who DID survive the eighties needs a medal, cos they were ALL victims of fashion! Mmhmm! *snaps fingers*

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, December 20, 2011 9:26:47 PM

Correction, it was fashionable to be unfashionable in the Eighties. party .
(and I saw someone dressed in 'Eighties' getup just the other day, complete with mullet and scruffy hair! scared . The Eighties are coming back. whistle )

KittyliciousZaphira Tuesday, December 20, 2011 9:34:28 PM

I think your parcel looks like lots and lots of fun! I would love to get a present wrapped like that! bigsmile

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Tuesday, December 20, 2011 10:03:32 PM

Well I had a dream that Fred Durst was driving a tractor in the pasture next door in the middle of the night. It was all lit up like those vehicles on TRON, all you could see was the lights. Then Magnus ran outside and he had those lights too lol

Sometimes I worry about my inner self. awww

*adjusts medal and brushes her "flock of seagulls" hair*

Thanks Kitty bigsmile Just wait till I put a bow on it! yes

KittyliciousZaphira Wednesday, December 21, 2011 5:52:08 AM

Ooh, a bow! Add some glitter too and it's as close to perfect as a present can possibly get! bigsmile

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Wednesday, December 21, 2011 12:25:32 PM

I liked Bianca's rythme. And A Tron lit dog... coooool.

...Oh wait... left

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Thursday, December 22, 2011 3:29:53 AM

anus man?

scared

ShallowMuse Thursday, December 22, 2011 10:03:58 AM

bigeyes I believe this white jacket is yours, Lucy.

r♡serose-marie Thursday, December 22, 2011 10:10:10 AM

Ok, maybe I'm a freak, but I love wrapping presents! Odd shapes doesn't matter - it's only a fun challenge! bigsmile

However, I must admit that this year I haven't put much effort in it. Most of the parcels are just ordinarily wrapped... awww

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Thursday, December 22, 2011 10:36:51 AM

It was a dream, one can't control dreams!

Now I'm wondering about your special wrapping, Rose. A paper maze, with a treat at the centre. cool

KittyliciousZaphira Thursday, December 22, 2011 10:57:55 AM

Not a treat, Gavin. A surprise! devil lol

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Thursday, December 22, 2011 11:57:51 AM

lol Treat, surprise, it's all in the eye of the beholder. :zen:

r♡serose-marie Thursday, December 22, 2011 12:12:38 PM

That's not a bad idea, Gavin! idea

Mrs. HermitessHermitess Friday, December 23, 2011 2:52:46 AM

wink I aspire to be a great wrapper of gifts, but by the time the dogs "help" it ends up a lost cause with ripped paper amd fur stuck in the tape

You should all move to England then. We are politically incorrect and always say Merry Christmas, never Happy Holidays!
