Power In Question

, ,

Do your beliefs allow you to dream? Or are you close minded?

There will always be limits... but can we widen the barriers?

Can we of ourselves loosen the confining bands? Or must something higher lighten restrictions?

Should we have more power? & what would we do with it?

If only a few had great power… wouldn’t that be unfair?

If YOU had great power… would you care?

Humanity has all the power it desires, it just doesn't have the knowledge or the responsibility to use it correctly.

-demiphonic Thursday, July 5, 2007 6:46:25 PM

Funny.. when you look at it you can't really Break any rules that are set in place... we can only learn to deal with it.... for instance we can 'escape' gravity somewhat by going outside the earths atmosphere.. but gravity is still acting on you - though to a lesser extent given your position.

So Knowledge is what allows us to be 'super' so to speak - & it will only seem 'super' if only a few (or you alone) can accomplish it bigsmile

As for responsibility faint I think man has show enough what they do with the knowledge they have learned scared :nuke: << that's your mushroom cloud you wanted yes

Really - great power should only be given those who are moral individuals. sadly in this world it's hardly the case sad

Dark FurieFurie Thursday, July 5, 2007 6:55:09 PM

There's a theory that states reality is formed by the combined beliefs of the planet.

Using that, if everyone believes that gravity doesn't affect us, then we'll be flying round in no time.

I'll look into those comic books. I've seen some ads for Heroes since I've been here. Shigen is a japanese american girl I've been chatting to recently. The name is familiar from somewhere else but I can't place it and it's bugging me.

Right here is my puzzle. I refuse to not figure out the name.

G-ManGuyver7 Friday, December 26, 2008 3:08:03 PM

I think that the potential of people is greater than everyone thinks. People with a abilities is a STRONG possibility in my opinion

-demiphonic Friday, December 26, 2008 3:43:58 PM

I wouldn't write that off... but we would have to understands loads about our physiology before we start seeing those kinds of results bigeyes that could easily take a 1000 years scared

G-ManGuyver7 Friday, December 26, 2008 6:02:21 PM

Who knows? Evolution may take place at anytime

Dark FurieFurie Friday, December 26, 2008 7:17:22 PM

Evolution is taking place all the time. People are being born without the ability to produce the chemical that stops muscle growth, resulting in ten year old boys that look like Arnie. Girls in Russia have X-ray vision more precise than machines and resembling CAT scans more than anything else. This is the beginning of the next stage. For a sudden evolutionary jump which determines the next stage of all humanity though, it'll take thousands of years before one final form is chosen and we all get that. The last vestiges of humanity as we know it will die off alone or breed weaker mutations into the gene pool.

Dark FurieFurie Friday, December 26, 2008 7:18:01 PM

And then, there's me. happy

-demiphonic Friday, December 26, 2008 8:40:49 PM

yeah you wish lol

I myself don't believe in evolution... I think that the building blocks are all ready there & it's just a matter of tapping the hidden resources ....not a matter of mutation... just figuring out how to work the genetics we all ready have. I think a combo of genes & pure science can help us achieve 'hero' like results.... thing is whenever that happens it may seem quite normal to us then aye? bigsmile

G-ManGuyver7 Friday, December 26, 2008 9:30:06 PM

I agree with demiphonic

Dark FurieFurie Friday, December 26, 2008 10:13:48 PM

That's what evolution is. Tapping into new abilities built from old genetics. Basically we have the ability but it would take intense training to use it at the moment, more than most humans are capable of. Evolution is simply making the exception become the rule.

Take me. I have incredible luck. Someone could drop a ten ton weight on me and it'd turn out to be made of money, wouldn't damage me, and would drag the person who dropped it to their death. While that hasn't quite happened yet I've got some tales that would convince anyone that my luck is unnatural. Everything comes up roses for me. At the moment I'm one of a kind. In the future everyone may have access to whatever causes it. Things like that or any advanced psychic abilities wont disappear with the end of a bloodline. Other bloodlines may have the abilities activated at any time.

However, for physical mutations such as growing wings etc, we'll have to wait for evolution to really take a hold. No-one can concentrate and grow wings (although I've seen footage of a boy in the 50s, so convinced he was a werewolf that he would go into rages where his hair could visibly grow all along his limbs and body and his nails would grow visibly too) so science would have to lend a hand activating those dormant building blocks until evolution reactivated them. There are cats recently that have started to grow wings. Search my page for the story on that.

You're right that the building blocks of the future are within us. You're right that we need some help to activate them (crisis is a well known temporary solution - we've all heard of Grandmothers lifting cars off of children). Sometimes mutation is the help, sometimes it's science, sometimes it's training ourselves really hard. So you see, you do believe in evolution, just not in a tiny part of it.

-demiphonic Friday, December 26, 2008 11:23:23 PM

I see what your saying but I'm pretty sure I believe in creation lol but like I said.. whatever is there all ready can be tapped. Evolution believes that what is there, changes / mutates to become something completely different. In other words with evo a reptile can become a bird, given enough time.
With creation... a Bird is a Bird & a Man is a Man. (made according to their kind by God) ..however what the Bird or Man can accomplish may become more manifest as we progress.

In fact I don't even believe that other animals may have this potential... but with man I think it's different. the human brain can accomplish sooooooooo much more that a mere bird or fish. That's why I think Man in particular when he is able to harness all his brain power will be able to extend his basic abilities far beyond what we know today. As for what that means or what kind of 'power' it will bring who knows? but one thing's for sure... it will be amazing.

Dark FurieFurie Saturday, December 27, 2008 12:04:54 AM

You mean like when man progressed so far that he lost most of his body hair and accomplished coming down from the trees?

Language is the only barrier to free thought. What you call the creator, I call the Big Bang. What you call progress, I call evolution. What you call God, I call me. up.

Without language in the way of things we're both talking about humankind becoming something other than it's current capabilities. Gaining new powers. To understand each other we need a neutral language.

The wiccans teach that all of us are created by God, from God, and that as such we are all a part of God. That grants us unimaginable power in the universe if only we knew how to use it. Using my definition of Evolution (and none of us can claim to know the truth, we all use our own definitions of things) that point where we learn how to access that power in any way is the next evolutionary step for mankind. Using your language it may be the next part of God's plan for mankind. It all comes down to the same thing: Humanity's changing, becoming more powerful everyday.

Dark FurieFurie Saturday, December 27, 2008 12:12:44 AM

As for other animals... Well, what proof do you have that the human mind can accomplish more than a fish? Fish are all over the waters of this planet. We aspire to traverse space when we haven't even explored 10% of the ocean depths. Fish have.
You see, it's all a matter of perspective. As far as the fish are concerned, don't you think they see us as mindless killers? Giants who pollute their environment and drag them to their deaths in evil traps.

Maybe the reason humanity sees itself as above other animals is that it's actually too stupid (and I mean everyone, not just the Scottish) to understand it's place in the natural order of things. Maybe in the universe, we're actually the typical weedy kid who thinks he's a tough guy, like in every school playground, and we're too stupid to realise just how bad we are? Perhaps the fish understand us and are complacent with their role in the universe but we don't understand them because we've never taken the time or effort. We know they have some form of society after all. Who's to say they don't have science or religion somewhere that we haven't been to yet?
Somewhere hidden away from us because we haven't dared explore that far on the planet of water that we call Earth.

A little food for thought there. Give it a chew. chef

G-ManGuyver7 Sunday, December 28, 2008 12:41:18 AM

Hmm, interesting

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, December 28, 2008 12:44:41 AM

You survive as many deaths as I have, you learn a few things. Whether from the experience or just to have a worthwhile life.
