I love Opera, but for some reason the recent builds have been unstable on my laptop, so I've been using my blogspot address for my blog on Vertigo. I invite you take a moment to read my posts at allthingshitchcock.blogspot.com.
It seems that the latest build (9.50 and beyond) is working for my computer, so expect more posts here. I will be using this blog for my personal commentary and the blogger site for Vertigo and Hitchcock specific posts.

Vote. If you live in the US, then I shouldn't have to remind you that this is democracy that requires your active participation. If you don't participate, then we end up with eight years of the current bullshit. Bush/Cheney are the best argument ever for getting off your ass and making sure such ineptitude never reaches the white house ever again in our lifetime.

the results from Iowa seemed to be a surprise to everyone except the people. Obama represents a possibility too tempting to pass up. I'm sorry to see my personal favorite out of the race so quickly, but I am also happy to see someone like Obama doing so well.
Southern California is wet this morning--as is all of California. This promises to be a wet year and we could use the rain. The new year entered without much incidence and I'm hoping that the year will be a stable one--

america, cheney, bush, biden
...
finally, the season I can't wait to finish winds down. Christmas has become an ugly display of all the negative appetites--with the positive one's struggling to ride along as wrapping so we don't feel so guilty for such conspicuous consumption and greed. But, this is an honest season and the real fangs of the vampiric population are laid bare and we are shown for that which we are--wolves in Santa outfits shoving everything we can into our fat greasy bags. No bah humbug here--just a casual observor of the truth and happy to sit quietly on my buddhist cushion, pleased to no longer be part of the ritualized insanity.
On other drearier notes, it seems that I will soon have to lay aside my mantle of hope for my man Biden, and pick up Mr. Obama's. What a difficult choice, but a real blessing to have such quality choices. My intimations are though that we may never make it to the general election in November without the twin towers of manipulative darkness doing something or allowing something to interrupt the peaceful transition.
I recommend Notes to a young american patriot for reading before you cluck that it can't happen here (and try finding either one of the books that carry that title in a library or a bookstore).
to paraphrase an oryoki prayer, innumberable labors have brought us this world, be thankful for it.

what a great excuse to take a look around the community and see some of what other members have to say/offer. I'm totally impressed with what I see and read--and kudos to the developers/pr people for coming up with such a cool idea. Blogs are like a lot schizophrenic wallflowers at a party, so it's great to be pried off the wall and forced to say hey to a few others.

president, biden
in the fwiw department, I'd like to say that I support Joe Biden for President--I did when he made his first run and still know that Biden would make an excellent leader for our times--maybe even better now then way back on the first bid.
I like much of what I see with Obama and Mrs. Clinton--but when it comes down to it, a person has to vote using all three organs--head, heart and gut. Only Joe Biden gets a solid vote from all three from me.
So, take a look at him and if you agree, toss some financial support his way. I don't believe in the contest being over until the votes are counted and if Biden makes a number 3,2 or 1st place showing in Iowa then things could/will change dramatically. I personally think a Biden/Edwards ticket is unbeatable come November no matter what hack the right wing throws at us.

dream, god, rest, sunday
...
seldom my favorite day. rest is not so easy, and i imagine that my belief in the christian god as the almighty one and only begins to crumble when he rested the seventh day--if we are in his image, then somebody somewhere said, "God! Stop already! Take a break." and God shrugged, and nodded off. I think the divine still nods and we are hueristic playthings in that sleep. don't wake in that good night, o lord, do not yet wake in that good, sweet night. i sing lullabies forever so that your brow does not twitch and erase our painful, tiny lives. your rest is our torment, but it is all that we have and divine one, you do not know what the morning will bring. so, sleep, dream, and rest on.
