First of all, I would like to thank those who have joined such a unique group on Opera, It shows that there are people out there who are actually interested in Indie media. For those who joined that don't know what Indie media is, I'll give you a brief description, independent media is any type of media that is created by those who don't depend on large corporation to license, manage, and distribute their content. Such content could be either games, music, movies, and literature.

If you are interested in being a moderator or a blogger of any of the media categories, please message me.

The Game Images gallery has been renamed to "Game Screens", and now the newest images will be shown first.

You may have noticed that some of the posts now have a intro, the reason for it is to decrease the load time for opera members who don't have a fast connection and for those who use Opera Mini or any other moble internet browser.

(disclaimer: most of the games I post only either work on the windows platform or MacOS, but there are ways to play these game on other operating systems, it's just a matter of looking for them.)

Sites to avoid:

www.softplatz.com
Why? Because you basically have to sell you security away to get anything "free" from this site.

Roto Adventures: Momo's Quest

Found on the latest list of IGF (Indie Game Festival) finalists and winners . Momo's Quest has certainly caught my interest with it's unique take on side scrollers. It's basically like taking a 2D side scroller and rolling it up into a tube. That and with the hand drawn sprites, backgrounds and totally original music makes a winning combo. But what about the game play you ask? From what i played, the game certainly has it's challenges. Some stages will have you at the edge of your seat while you try to escape a giant monster that eats everything in it's path! So what's the final verdict? This game is sure to entertain both casual and hardcore gamers alike. As always, you can try before you buy. Here's the link: Happy Nutz Studio

I'm Back

It's been a while.. a long while, but i'm back. Yes it seems that i have neglected my duties as an indie game blogger. I've been very occupied with all of the new games i got, thanks to the job i've had since july. But even though i have not been blogging about indie game, doesn't mean i haven't been playing them. Oh, my good people, I've been playing such indie games such as Iji, Xoldier,Rag Doll Kung Fu, Cube 2, Free Orion, Solar Vengeance 5, Deliantra, Counter Strike 2D, and the latest i've played is a game called "RotoAdventure: Momo's Quest". Yeah it doesn't seem alot, but at least it's something. But now since i have a job and a bunch of games to complete. I'll be posting less often, i don't know how much, but i'll be posting.

Rokkit Ball has changed a bit.

Just recently, i've received the latest newsletter from the guys of Instant Action and it regards some changes to Rokkitball. Basically it says you can still play for free, but now the amount of time you can play is now limited to a certain amount of plays per day. Now if you want to play for an unlimited amount of plays for a period of time. You'll have to buy an "action pass" which is basically your ticket to play as much as you want for a month ($3.99) or a year ($11.99). You also get a certain amount of extra tokens depending on which "pass" you buy. But just for today, you can play for free as much as you want with all maps unlocked! But for those who have bought content like maps for Rokkit Ball, will be allowed to play that game for free as long as they want for a lifetime and will have access to game content for free... except for anything that is just a cosmetic change, like skins and avatars. For a more detail list of changes, please go to the official Instant Action Blog. Now i'm wondering, will this eventually apply to all games in the Instant Action service?

Bored Games: Combat Storm

Have you in the past ever played with those small green/tan army men? Making gun and explosion sounds? Wish there was a way of still playing with them without looking foolish, odd, weird? Well your in luck! I've stumbled upon a site which features a simple war game using those little green men! The game is unsurprisingly cheap, and that's just not because of the inexpensive army men. The battle field is just a pdf file you print and put together. The rule booklet is cheap too, it only costs $19.99. Considering most table top war games are at least $60.00-$80.00 minimum for like a base set. You would probably want to get more figures which cost around $4.00 each. Look, i have nothing against war games at all, I'm just basically saying war gaming can be quite an expensive hobby and if you want to get into war gaming. This would be a good start since it's not expensive at all and from what i've read, easy to understand. You can get all the info you need to play this game here: Combat Storm

PSN Exclusive: Pixel Junk's Eden

Released last thursday, Pixel Junk Eden is a very unique physics based platformer...wait..can it even be considered a platformer? Anyways, you play as a little creature called a "grimp", this grimp has the ability to use the silk it produces to swing from plant to plant to collect pollen to pollinate plant to ascend higher to pollinate even more plants to ascend even higher to eventually grab the "spectra" that you must collect to complete the goal of each level. But isn't as easy as it sounds, while you try to ascend higher, you must keep an eye on your time bar. Each and every level, you are timed and in order to keep time at bay. You must collect small time spectra, which are scattered throughout each level. Every time you complete a level, the number of spectra you must collect for that level increases, while the ammount of time stays the same. I've played the demo, and i have to say it's actually quite challenging. I also have to say , in order to the full experience of the games visuals, you just have to have an HDTV with surround sound. it's just alot better if you have that. But than again, if you can afford a ps3, you should be able to afford a nice tv to go along with it.
