The Spring Project

, , ,

The Spring Project aims to be the best RTS ever created. With the amount of time the people who are involved in this project took. It seems they are doing quite well. The game the creators were aiming to recreate, is an RTS called "Total Annihilation", which they have and now they are just trying to make it better. Besides that game, there are a few mods for the game like a Gundam mod, a StarWars mod, and a historical war mod. The game is online play only, but you can go against bots too. You can get the game for free here: The Spring Project

Globulation 2

, , ,

Globulation 2 is an RTS with very unique style. There is very little micro management, instead you just assign a number of units to either work, harvest, or protect. Which allows you to focus more on strategy. Building structures such as barracks will increase the experience of the warriors to fight more efficiently. Building inns and pools will increase the happiness of the workers, which in turn make them work better. The great thing about this game is the ability to play online, which is always a good thing. You can get the game for free here: Globulation 2

Bit Battle

,

Bit Battle is another tank based Tron inspired game. What sets this game apart from the other tank based Tron inspired game is this game is only multiplayer. Also, the tank turrent is fixed instead of free moving from the base of the tank. But that doesn't mean you can't aim far, since the round you shoot will go as far as it can even up and around hills until it reaches the target. This tank game plays more like an FPS, mean you can strafe, and move backwards while shooting, but you can't jump. Also, the types of games you play in most FPS's are in this game too. You know like Capture the flag and deathmatch, but there are game mode unique to this game. You can download the open beta here: Fantical Games

The Young Republic

They like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin. They come from Nashville, Tennessee, USA and they play folk-ish rock music with little bit country influences. Julian, Kristin, Bob, Nate and Chris call themselves The Young Republic. They released their first album "12 Tales from Winter City" in January 2008. It's not really a new album cuz most of the songs have been released in America on their self-released albums and EP's. Half of the album songs is available to listen on their MySpace page. I really like the whole album and i dont want to bring out any songs... not often when that happens P:

Battle of Tiles

,

Battle of Tiles is a self explained game with fairly straight forward gameplay. You and your army of tile based soldiers fight as long as you can until your defeated. Yes it sounds simple, and it is, but there's more to the game than just killing your enemies. Your army can level up and you can also buy enemy tiles with the money you earn to fight for you to and make your army more power. Like in most rpgs you have the soldier, the knight, the archer, the healer, and the wizard. Also, the way you arrange your army can either hurt or help you go farther. After playing the demo for myself, I have to say the game is fun and addictive, even though the gameplay is so simple! You can buy this game for the unbelievable price of $4.99! Wii Preview: Toki Tori

,

Toki Tori for the Wii is a complete overhaul of the original Toki Tori that was on the GBC(Game Boy Color). I haven't played the original, so I don't really know what's different about the two. I'm guessing the introduction of the weapons such as the Instarock, Telewarp, and the Slug Sucker. Also, probably the introduction of a bunch of new levels. After playing this game for an hour and thirty minute, I have to say it's great! You can get this game on your Nintendo Wii right now for 1000 points.

The Charlatans

, ,

Few days ago i found out that The Charlatans has came up with new album and i didnt know anything about it! So i cried for hours and then i got myself that album. Its titled "You Cross My Path" and was released FREE to download from the XFM website on March 3, 2008 (doing that The Charlatans became the first UK band to release album completely free to download via a radio station) and in the form of CD on May 12, 2008. You Cross My Path is already tenth studio album for the band whos gonna celebrate their 20th birthday next year. For me The Charlatans "came to life" on 2004 when i heard their super album "Up At The Lake". I was amazed by that album... it came out pretty much same time as Seafood's "As the Cry Flows" and those 2 albums were just WOW on 2004!!! They still are! But as it often happens when u have heard something fantastic from some band u start expecting a lot from them... and when 2006 The Charlatans came out with "Simpatico" i was little disappointed... not that the album was bad it just wasnt great... it was OK! Same thing is with You Cross My Path... its ok album and good to listen but nothing genius. Still i think its gonna be one of the top 20 albums this year for me! Best song from the album is "The Misbegotten" its a mix with 80's disco and britpop P: actually i like it a lot!!! You can listen 3 single songs from the new album on The Charlatans MySpace page.
