If you've been reading the countless indie blogs out there, chances are you should already know somethings about Garage Games service, Instant Action. But if you haven't, i'll give you a brief description. Instant Action is a web based platform totally independent of any system. The service allows you to play any of the high quality games (with other if you like) they offer on your browser. You can buy or earn points and use them to buy games, levels, and extras. Now that got that out of the way, I would like to tell you my impressions.Well, not too long ago I got a chance to test out the Instant Action service (closed beta) from Garage Games. Ever since then, i've been playing the beta versions of the games shown on the screen shot I took. From what i've experienced, the service is pretty sweet (but not without it's fair share of bugs). I was able to choose and play another game while playing. I could join someone else's game with ease and quit with ease.
Hosting a game is incredibly easy too, all I needed to do was start a game and choose to host a match and it can be done without having to set up your connection to allow it. As a host, you can be the host for any game you choose (yes, if you want to, you can quit a game and choose another without losing the people your hosting), which I really liked. The current list of game they have on there right now aren't that great, besides Marble Blast Online and Think Tank. It's just the amount of bugs the games have sorta make the experience less enjoyable. But since it's a beta, I guess I have to expect such things. I am willing to say from what i've experienced, that Instant Action will become something of great beauty and enjoyment when the public is allowed to play.
Be sure to come back when I review the first of the four games the service has to offer.
