In September of 52 my mom and dad took me to Macedonia, Illinois to the house and to the parent she was born to. She was just 40 here and I was 3 months old. Random relatives in background. This at the back of the house is set up party fashion because it my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. Clifford and Savannah Kern. Macedonia small town between Benton and McLeansboro, Illinois. Fairly close to Mt Vernon, Illinois, the nearest big city, if there is a big city in southern Illinois, that be it. Macedonia had a general store, owned by the Vice brothers. and a Methodist church. and up by the highway where my dads' mothers' brother Rollie lived (see how he met mom?) is the original house my moms parents lived in by the original old old old Methodist Church and the family cemetery. My moms' parents built this house and my mom was first of 14 kids to be born in it. In 1912. This house no longer there. Next door to this house (which had beehives, smokehouse, barn with chickens, cow or cows, assorted other animals when I was little, garden with vegetables and flowers, nice path past the damned bees to the outhouse) lived an old old woman who made me banana cream pie when I was very small, maybe 3 or so, she was in her 90s then I believe, Ida Duboister or howsoever you spell something that is in your head probably wrong from when you were 3. My moms' younger brother Bob Kern moved into that house I understand after she passed away. None of this is neither here nor there, just trying to keep some of my memories safe. This site is my safety deposit box for my pictures, and a memory or two. thanx Opera! You crash and lose my shit and i'll jump off the damned bridge.
