There used to be an old airfield called Bakers' Field with a narrow winding path along the edge of a portion of the Black River here in Port Huron, actually I think this is in Port Huron Twp rather than city proper, up north end of Strawberry Lane which continues where Water street leaves off or you could continue left onto West Water out into the Twp. I used to hang out reading in my car, no one but the occasional fisherman there. Now they surprised me, first time there this year, and they cleared an adjacent field for parking and potty lol. Still can get down by the riverbank but the ambiance is gone...the privacy of all the overgrown plants, trees, etc gone but the river still rollin along...very slowly, Black River empties into the St. Clair River and tends to have to be dredged now and again so it will empty and not be nasty. Saw some ducks, my cameraphone has no "Erwin" or "Words" lenses to magnify, so missed the dang things just trying to focus in the bright sun...good luck with that. Have to upload these pics to Photobucket and then will put them into post as I get error otherwise......

melting snow leaves the little puddly lagoon like areas around and about..
cleared out this area which used to be overgrown, couldn't see thru the plants and trees and bushes. Now wide open area....not sure I like it.
kind of a cool fence anyway.

leaving the parking area, up on the road (Strawberry Lane) just outside the park "Bakers Field" saw this little tree stump...
looking at the river, can't see as it is downhill, but see the new parking area anyway, and the businesses across the river on Pine Grove Ave., the main northend Fort Gratiot business area...Burger King, etc are over there.

the infamous "I missed the damned ducks" shot. Just got the water of the Black River. Better than nothing. Least not iced over.
