no I don't believe that! ..... That is a stereotypical assumption that doesn't hold water all of the time or even most of the time.

Hi Kathy,
it's amazing that Aristotle's sayings are still up to date in western societies and going into the direction of buddha or ghandi as well. up

On the other hand, he may overlook that happiness can be a very simple thing. Happiness can come from making others happy because emotions are transferable/contagious and happiness is also present in archaic tribes with a simple mindset smile

I can see his point though. One can get caught up in external material things and obtaining same. That can block higher purpose such as learning a new skill, cracking a new subject you've been meaning to learn about, reading the top author of a different culture, listening to music from other countries and cultures, learning about the world instead of about "stuff". Really, TV is out, radio I don't listen to, I have my art and my cultures gleaned from my friends around the globe including what they read, listen to, enjoy; nature, around us and above us...I now see as so much richer than when is the next party or the next shopping trip...can't get out as I am stopped by a wall created by my mind...but as I stay home, get a book, learn or create something on the computer, I feel fulfilled.
