self-portrait aged 16

NO FAILURE

when to the dangerous confines of my mind

i find myself enamoured of myself

so pleased with this or that encounter

stand poised for some glory or disaster

which must follow a grandiose delusion of my worth

i must with grim determination

look to my faults and send a truer version of the

whole

to the command center housed in my skull (military

intelligence)

then, when i superimpose the negative, now

developed,

i count the failures, glaring inconsistencies, and

shortcomings

i am disillusioned and free to sense the urgency to

use what little force i have

with little or no expectation of reward, i find myself

in a smaller place

and the scale of spheres of being beyond my ignorant

laziness astounds me

but i am encouraged to redouble efforts from the

heart and entreat god for the power to do some good.

wonderful... our shortcomings... we all go through that... :frown:
what is important is that you´re aware and that we can change them...

that's right isabel. it's a lifetime job, but if i keep trying, even if i never master myself, at least i will be helped by the effort.

yea ravo, bravo comment. thanks.

sahin, i do appreciate your approval.

now, kimberly... you always ask the most difficult questions.

i'll just say, do you think i felt very good about that being the top post. especially since it didn't help a whit and i am still peeking down the road from behind the eight ball. i would delete it except for the preciousness of the comments.

i will send u a pm when i get home tomorrow. i have to go for sleep study again tonight. but when i get home tomorrow, i will send u a pm as i don't think the world needs to know what my comment to you would have been on that post. that is y u don't c one there from me.

my answer to that post, would b more personal than to post it in the comment section.

how do we do that nic?

By I_ArtMan, # 21. November 2007, 20:02:44

avatar
Hmmm..not sure...I´m in the strangest mood at the moment...observes without much thought and gets happy over the smallest tiniest nonimportant things in my surroundings. Feel blessed and watched at the same time...as if I´ve passed a test of some kind

My mind fells outside my gestalt:eyes::smile:

I will. If you´re waiting for something it´s best to live as much in the present as possible...i think

Is it an answer for me ? Or do you continue talking with ArtMan ? bug

By Rocio Lopez Gutierrez, # 22. November 2007, 00:01:22

oops sorry Rocio. It was for you. I have the flu. Maybe my brain is tricking me :D

By nopanic, # 22. November 2007, 00:09:36

avatar
i think rocio commented on nic's

"I will. If you´re waiting for something it´s best to live as much in the present as possible...i think."

and nic responded to rocio who had complimented his thinking and then nic said,
"pure necessity I´m afraid."

i hope that clears it up. if i'm wrong, you'll let me know, rocio.
no confusion allowed on my blog. lol

sorry to hear you have the flu nic... chicken broth and lots of orange juice. and especially... take it easy.

By I_ArtMan, # 22. November 2007, 00:40:21

avatar
Nic, sorry you have the flu, you need a lot of orange juice and lemon water, and a lot of bed too, hehehe. And I agree with the words of both of you, just live the present, nothing is more important. The past is gone, the future has not come, so, we only have the present. Hugs and greetings for both of you. bug

By Rocio Lopez Gutierrez, # 22. November 2007, 01:20:44

avatar
right on lady rocio.
but with an eye to the past we learn from and an eye to the future for consequences of our actions. just had to add that. it's great to be present and harmonious but...

By I_ArtMan, # 22. November 2007, 02:06:17

avatar

Yes, you are right. You have to live the present, but with the pride of the past, and the stillness of the future. Isnt it ? bug

By Rocio Lopez Gutierrez, # 22. November 2007, 02:09:20

avatar
well said. and we may not dwell in either the future or the past but only in the present.
unless today is different, tomorrow will be the same.

By I_ArtMan, # 22. November 2007, 02:32:25

avatar

You seem to write all of your words very easy, because you are a poet, but for me is very difficult, thats why I spent a lot of time in my answers. hehehehe

well, you are writing in a second language for you, right? if i had to write in spanish... oh it would be so illiterate. that's why i don't do it much. but thank you. i take it as a compliment to my trimmed english. all thanks to "the elements of style" by strunk and white, and the thousands of english writers i admire.

I´m from Denmark Rocio. It´s a very very small country, both in size and population (we´re only 5 million people). We have to be able to communicate in various languages in order to get along in Europe and the rest of the world. Most kids in my country can read and write an acceptble english by the age of ten:) from primary- to upper secondary scools german, frensh and spanish are taught. Some of them taken by choise but the possibility is there. In the university all major languages are taught.like chineese, russian, arabic etc etc. Even in the vocational training schools languages is a part of the edcation.
I´m sure Scott wont mind we talk and he´s so welcome to participate. He´s such a humble and kind person, I respect very much:)
