i did it my way

, ,

i know i didn't do this quite as well as imtheoldmannow

http://my.opera.com/imtheoldmannow/blog/2008/03/10/a-musical-tag?cid=4867573

the rules:
1. name your three favorite music group's albums(can be individual

or group)
yes, yes i know "what is an album?" for those not older than dirt like

me-that is CD.
and DWG's don't count - - i don't really think they ever produced an

album.

2. name your three favorite songs from each.
feel free to tell us why, if you would like

3. then, feel free to pick on three of your friends with links to their

sites posted

i will pick people who can do this tag with their eyes closed.

matthew
elmar
halldor

you have no idea how hard this was for me to do... for days i've been

remembering my all time favorite songs to try to decide who to single

out. just like everyone, i have a thousand favorite songs... and

favorite albums.

so finally i just decided to have some fun with it, and devil take the

hindmost. for those who have no idea what i'm talking about.... how

about beethoven's ninth symphony, my favorite things (john

coltrane, brubeck and crew (desmond) "take five", i mean it just goes on and

on... edith pilaf, marlene deitrich, louis armstrong, nina simone,

...everyone i don't want to slight, because i love them...

anyway here are my labored three:

well, the old man used 'the beattles' already... i would have chosen

rubber soul, norwegian wood, michelle, eleanor rigby.

i own the negatives for these rare pictures of elvis in the army. they're probably worth a fortune.

elvis presley:
album: "fifty greatest love songs"

1. always on my mind
2. hounddog
3. love me tender

i love some bjork,
but i chose madonna for popular songs.

album: "ray of light"

1. ray of light
2. frozen
3. little star

i love "trail of broken hearts"
by k.d. lang but i couldn't vote for three on that album.

so from k.d. lang
album: "shadowland"

1. black coffee
2. shadowland
3. i'm down to my last cigarette

Very nice choices, Scott. Very nice indeed.

I think you are wrong about me, though - this won't be easy at all. I think it will be fun, though! I'll let you know when I get it done.

imtheoldmannow,
i am glad you approve. thanks for the invitation. it helped me get my music organized.

matthew,
just because you have everything organized already... you will still have the same difficulty singling out a trio of albums with three songs you love from each.
it was fun in the long run.

I've got one artist chosen, and just have to decide which three albums have my favoite three songs. The other two are going to be difficult.

wish you could, matthew.

leena,
matthew's partial duty on the music tag was devoted to the musician poet michael franti. so i looked him up and found he is coming for a live concert here in los angeles. go listen on noahcounte's blog. you might like the music. very original.

I've managed a shorter, less ambitious Part Two.

I need to think about Part C. As you said - so many choices!

I still have to finish Part C. And make a friday post. And travel tomorrow - and I just got home from travel today... lol

*phew*

Done! Scott, that took me a week, but it was worth it. What a lot of fun I had wading though my music.

Tagged! Part C

By noah counte, # 22. March 2008, 18:25:19

avatar
and you exclaimed when i claimed it took me eight hours...

the tag does raise the consciousness of our music tastes. glad you had a good time.

moratorium on tags for a year.

By I_ArtMan, # 22. March 2008, 19:07:52

avatar
Hahaha. I knew it would take em a while. And I certainly didn't spend a week straight on it. Probably more than eight hours, though.

By noah counte, # 22. March 2008, 20:17:25

avatar
a moratorium, eh??
well, okay then.

til the next time, anyway

By imtheoldmannow, # 22. March 2008, 23:00:51

avatar
you're right. a moratorium until i am tagged again probably. i'm such a pushover.

By I_ArtMan, # 23. March 2008, 00:16:57

avatar
Hahaha. And you get tagged a lot! :eyes:

By noah counte, # 23. March 2008, 00:27:23

avatar
it's funny how i don't want to trouble anyone by passing the tag on... guess i just have to get over that.

By I_ArtMan, # 23. March 2008, 00:31:15

avatar
I've still never tagged anyone, though a couple of people have accepted open invitations to answer. I probably never will. I guess time will tell...

Noah ~
:ko: ooo those are all You Tube ... just now the dial-up speed says 3.0 Kb/s (as in three kilobites per second *yes* very slow)

probably you can run to me with the cd`s faster and I can listen to them before they download. sorry. no You Tube downloading today :frown:

the draw of mountains living ~ no access to high-speed :frown:

ps. how was your Birth day?

~ and ~

I hope every body had a joyous and peaceful Easter

I am sorry about the video. I'd like to make mp3s available, but I won't unless I'm sure it's a non-RIAA artist, and that they approve file sharing. Sometimes I can find flash audio, but not always.

I had dial up until just ten or 12 months ago - I'm close to town, but live in the woods with no neighbors. It's nice to be on the information superhighway, instead of that service road with speed bumps.

-30/35 minute drive to a grocer,, unless Amish,, then 20 minutes to the next mountain (if passable in winter) (45-60min to small mall) ... and yes,, I have lived in many big cities such as NYC and Chicago and Warsaw and the like

-fuel for car bill (just to in-town,, not work) per weekly ~ $100 US

-extreme mountain weather conditions ~ice here,, none valley ~blizzard here,, none valley ... and so on

-my drive it is about 500m long from street to house. many times in winter we can not get the auto up and down it ~treacherous icy curve in shady trees (excess of 100y old) and is a gravel drive rutted from rains/snow melt from mountain (goes downhill)

you can see my photo albums ever you care to. some country photos and some of my home. O the bill for to heat my home! :faint:

By lesswoodsend, # 28. March 2008, 05:30:19

there are some advantages to living in the mountains. all i know is that so far you can't have both. i enjoyed your photo albums.
