a helluva day
Friday, 7. November 2008, 05:12:00
this is a beautiful gold statue at the academy of television arts and sciences.
this is the main building:
this nice lady was very sympathetic about my eyes... she says it's conjunctivitis. i gave her my card.... beautiful dog.
cool modern offices:
even the hydrants are shining here.

one theatre of many:
my next painting (sketch for) yes, it will be a self portrait.

and here's my reward for all my suffering today.

I love your new post!
I hope your eyes feel better soon,
three days it is three LONGGGGGGGG days for an eye discomfort,
I am looking forward to the new painting,
I love the pictures you took today,
I crave the dinner and of course I smile seeing you added Sappho by the tray
"Fragment 2:"
Come to me from Crete to the sacred recess
Of this temple: here you will find a grove
Of apple tress to charm you, and on the altars
Frankincense fuming. Here ice water babbles among the apple
Branches and musk roses have overshadowed
All the ground; here down from the leaves' bright flickering
Entrancement settles. There are meadows, too, where the horses graze knee
Deep in flowers, yes, and the breezes blow here
Honey sweet and softer [
[ ]
Here now you, my goddess [ ] Cypris
In these golden wineglasses gracefully mix
Nectar with the gladness of our festivities
And greet this libation (Powell 8).
"Honey sweet" I hope you feel 100% soon,
you have a very special place in my heart

And besides, what is life apart from a helluva day? Drinking selected beauty with our senses and believing in coherence at some level is what we can do.
All the best to you and your eyes.

I see your reward was a twofer - a great mean and some great news
scott cumming # 7. November 2008, 19:05
it's not too bad, just irritating and ugly. i would almost just wait for it to clear up by itself, except i don't know for sure. today i start again to get medical advice.
scott cumming # 7. November 2008, 19:15
hi dan,
well, it's no better. but i'll be working on it today. thanks for stopping by.
meli, thanks for decorating my comments with beans. i got nowhere fast yesterday. i called a clinic. the answering machine said they were out to lunch so i walked over there. but they were closed. i'm afraid to drive; it's like driving under water. trying again to reach them on the phone and make an appointment.
yes, matthew, it was a double whammy of good things and one setback. not even yet.
i really worked up an appetite walking but my eyes were bigger than my stomach. i only ate half of it.
Angeliki # 7. November 2008, 19:28
I hope your eyes feel better soon and you avoid the extra aggravation like the long waiting time in emergency rooms,
visit a pharmacy at your area,
the pharmacists usually have the basic knowledge to give you a solution for clearing the eyes till you see a professional,
I wish I was closer!
You need some TLC and I hope this song gives you a hint of how much I worry...

you do have a way of touching me even at a distance.
i loved the song... healey... new to me. good style.
but you're the one with ojos angelica, i'm just the old goat with the hungry eyes.
matthew,
yes a second act to that dinner. i'll turn it into a nice garlicy soup with some leeks and lentils. all the meat is gone. that bourgignon fed me five times because i froze it after two.
mom,
it'll be all right. i have a solid appointment at the opthamologist at three. and they accept medi-cal so help is on the way.
meli, i'm afraid i have to drive this time. it took over two hours to walk it yesterday. but i'll go slow and carefully.
Angeliki # 7. November 2008, 21:19

Dear Scott, get well soon, hope your eyes don't hurt. Promising sketch, meal looks very tasty, and what a headline in the paper eh? Such great great news!

scott cumming # 8. November 2008, 01:04
thanks for the comment. that's an affirmation.
linda, no it doesn't hurt just itches like hell and blurry.
well, the doctor thinks it's no big deal, so i am relieved of the worry anyway... it seems some kind of rhinocerous has made his abode in my tearduct.
bacitracin four times a day and see him again in two weeks.
Angeliki # 8. November 2008, 01:15

thanks, better already painting through the greasy eyeballs... talk about a challenge. lmao
thanks meli,
i love to see from above. i can imagine being there. i would be checking my leash every five minutes though. the thought of drifting through space until its over causes a sensation in my stomach similar to hunger pangs.
i wonder if an unimpelled body would gather any momentum or acceleration in space.
ed,
that was a perceptive observation. just imagine if they swept it up a little and watered.
Angeliki # 8. November 2008, 23:47
I stole the link from Pam,
as for me being in space,
I would check my leash and diapers too!
scott cumming # 9. November 2008, 00:04
i really loved the 'evil wave'
i think i even posted the blue marble once.... but it seemed a little different then.
i'm just resting from my first attempt to paint under greasy water. lol
i'm getting there.
Angeliki # 9. November 2008, 00:22
I had hard time with gmail and yahoo today
I did not use any since yesterday for this very reason...
if you noticed I was asking about the doctor in your posts....
I hope it is solved soon!
I am glad to know you will attempt to paint, if you see any discomfort open windows and doors that will help....
Reuters has some amazing pictures the Wave was from them...I
I got an email last year from my friend Ravo with Satellite pictures, it was similar but pp and no picture could be copied,
then out of "the blue" I got this from my sister Katerina
and speaking for heights we took this picture on our way to Olympus:

the one of the houses says a lot. it says a lot of walking up hill.
Angeliki # 9. November 2008, 00:52
like this one:
http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb107/ellinidata/GR%20photos/PromenadeCorfu.jpg
and this of a "laterna",
http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb107/ellinidata/GR%20photos/laterna.jpg
it is a gramophone type of music that it was very popular in Greece.
During the late 40's early 50's poverty was in most parts of Greece ,
the musical entertainment with a "laterna" in the village's square was the only one people had .....
Later they were able to afford radios.
"Laternas" can be seen in a musical Museums these days,

it was very distinctive sounds.
when in the cities people got radios and later Tvs that specific music had moved to small poor villages where people did not even have electricity to use a radio ...
I hope I don;t bore you with these old stories..
the "laterna" owners were always made sure to decorate the picture of the lady(for some reason it was always a lady...) with necklaces and flowers...
http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=FNkt8P2X6jQ
here a VERY old clip from a Greek movie where young gypsies in the country side approach a "laterna owner" and he plays for them to dance !!
the part after the 2.40 sec it is the music I recall playing in the old narrow streets of "plaka" the area under the Acropolis in the 80's...
From what I hear there are no more laternas in those streets any longer
have fun at the studio today!
scott cumming # 9. November 2008, 16:36
doesn't bore me a bit... kind of sad though the way special things slip into the dark night of yesterdays.

another artist who painted in spite of eye problems was el greco who painted those elongated figures, he had a stigmatism and saw things that way.
