peace on earth

, , , ...

our world has come a long way.

i would just like to hear a voice in appreciation of the compassionate efforts of so many undaunted men and women, through time, who devoted their lives to the future good and who have brought some of us out of pestilence and disorder.

we are still plagued by the seeming inevitability of a madness that possesses the body politic and it's loyal adherents to engage in a periodic slaughter of humanity indiscrimitately ; and for specious reasons.

if we were all to raise a cry of "mercy"; a prayer for the conscience of mankind to root itself in each and every mind. we might stop this grievous error of war for all time.

then we could pursue more life-enhancing activities and find a way to care for and feed and clothe and house the whole of humankind in a dignified and meaningful fashion. every way of life could be allowed, so long as each individual's pursuit of their own happiness be lawful and not extreme.

there is no higher order i can think of than that we think and work together to eradicate ignorance, bigotry and self-serving self-protective deceit. and most of all we must get over our present universal scourge of greed.

that's just my opinion.

blithe bigotry

i don't usually get mixed up in politics and i am apolitical but this is an
important aspect of the problems the world is wrestling with today

Hi,

On Friday Republican Senator George Allen sunk to a new low. At a

campaign stop the Virginia senator singled out the only non-white

member of the audience--S.R. Sidarth, a young Indian-American

volunteering for his opponent--and called him "macaque" (a racial

slur meaning 'monkey'). He went on to say, "welcome to America." As

it happens, Mr. Sidarth was born and raised in Virginia.

Can you join me in asking the Republican National Committee to

take a stand against these tactics and withdraw support for Sen.

Allen? (You can also watch video of the incident through the link

below).

thanks!
this is what i wrote:

please take the 'honorable' prefix off when addressing senator

george allen.
to call a citizen a macaque.... to welcome mr sidarth to america

when he has been here all his life just exposes allen to ridicule for

being both bigoted and ignorant himself.

i believe a senator of these united states should have the presence

of mind to watch his words.

if you withdraw your support from him it will be in your best interest.
we wouldn't want the republican party to get a reputation for 20th
century backwardness.

let's just get out of this color problem. it serves no purpose.
it is a rainbow world in case you didn't notice. 'we the people'
recommend that there be no more derogatory remarks by our
leaders referring to any man or woman as inferior relative to his color
or other ethnicity.

All men are created equal. what are you afraid of? face your fears

and.... welcome to the future.

passwords 1

were you in love with the world before you got to know it?

were you in love with the world
before you got to know it?
I will teach you the passwords
use them well
the first password is recant
the inmates are running the asylum.

the flock is in the high pasture
and we are here alone
in the cathedral with tears
there is a war on and a masquerade
where the crowning of the fool
and the passing of the dromedaries
all white
are kneeling before the bishop’s mitre

have we cosigned a congress
of senior fatso hawks?
lively dissenters? gone.
the population sleeps
they chant
"long live the senators' undelivered prostitutes,
seventy-five foot speedboats,
silver hummers road hogs and leering jets."
our well heeled leaders
whose souls have disappeared
from their faces.

in census and in no sense
before the fact their innocence is interminable
even decades of unmitigated disinterest…
we know because we pinched them
and they squealed
we know because we tweaked their noses
inebriate and they snored on.

a common thread of false hopes
the ladies, previously passive,
they moved not for shame
they are the ringmasters now
married acrobats
they thought hard
and in secret hearts
they crowned the miscreant publicans
they ride demurely beside them in open conveyance
and the show will go on
in thin imitation of service
to the people.
and the applause will go on
and the death knell tolls
and the toll rises
as the birth rate falls
and the leaders one by one fall
into disrepute

then the people cry
who will lead us into the next cul de sac
called freedom and equality?
the white dromedary has the soothsayers ear
how rests your conscience now?
you who were our only hope.
Recant.
