peace is possible

, ,

we are all sick of war.
let there be peace.

"Better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace." buddha

make love, not war
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmkAuTQ8Sc4 john lennon sings make love not war

"If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.

If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.

If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.

If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.

If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.

Hi Scott,
Please, please, view the two-hour video in my last post. It is the most important commentary on the human condition ever produced. As responsible humans, we must promote the concepts introduced by the 'Venus Project' to as many people as possible. For others to see it now, here is the link:

Amen! That's what I wanted to do using my blog but people like Icarus don't want that to happen.

ellinidata 13. May 2009, 00:58

meli,
we have to stop losing our spines to save our necks! when our leaders and religious groups realize the loss and the destruction they bring on earth we might stop seeing the butchered kids, the tears of mothers shed, and the devastation of fathers...it is our family that is getting killed out there "the human family" and we are just spectators......

peace in our hearts, peace in our minds and not only in words but in actions

thanks for sharing !

SqueakeyCat 13. May 2009, 03:32

ain't that the truth

ricewood 13. May 2009, 07:03

Your words are as true as they ever were. Can't be repeated enough - even if they are constantly ridiculed.

Choose peace. It can be done.

holdowicz-claude 13. May 2009, 09:34

I found this on the Web:
« L’Amour est le fondement du monde. Où il a l’amour, il y a la paix, là où il y a égoïsme il y a misère et souffrance. Apprenez de Mère Nature qui donne d’Elle-même, même si elle est exploitée par l’homme. Faites de bonnes actions et considérez les êtres comme les enfants de la Mère Divine. » Amma
English translation:
"Love is the foundation of the world. Where LOVE is Peace is, where selfishness is, misery and suffering are. Learn from Mother Nature that it gives all, even if it is exploited by man. Do good deeds and consider human beings as children of the Divine Mother." Amma

Thank you very much Scott  You make me happy

noah counte 13. May 2009, 15:28

“There is no way to peace, peace is the way.” - A.J. Muste

I think the same can be said for love. And has been eloquently stated above, one has to find both peace and love within one's self. If you can't love yourself, you can't share love. If you aren't at peace, then you spread discord.

Nice post, Scott.

holdowicz-claude 13. May 2009, 15:37

Nice words Matthew
Did you see the film "The Peaceful warrior"?

PainterWoman 13. May 2009, 15:39

It's too bad all the world's religious and political leaders don't have blogs. I was called stupid for saying that once but maybe they could see and read that the majority of us are all the same. A simple fix perhaps but maybe simplicity is the key. It's the few who are power hungry that run everything and they are the ones who don't have the time to really talk to the people......us.

I_ArtMan 13. May 2009, 20:13

I_ArtMan 15. May 2009, 17:28

that's a good attitude i think. stay open. we mustn't crystallize our opinions. that would be a disservice to our intelligence.

True. That would be a disgrace

Thanks!

I_ArtMan 16. May 2009, 18:23

also, finding peace in one's being which is permanent has nothing to do with all those opinions. i can only work on myself. if i succeed, it will be a little help.

welcome theresa, thanks for the affirmation.

Great post so far, Scott! The contradiction -if I may- is in the Comments under average Newspaper articles about Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Sudan, Caucasus, etc.

And this could be prolonged endlessly...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8052999.stm together with this, if you are unfamiliar with the BBC ways:
http://newsforums.bbc.co.uk/nol/thread.jspa?forumID=6444&edition=2&ttl=20090516212858

It is a ridiculous war tone and talk about 'criminals' that allegedly threaten 'our security'. I very well know who these criminals are! They have made themselves untouchable, unless we switch off the lights for them. Until then we can only dream about peace on Earth...

I_ArtMan 16. May 2009, 20:49

that's why they call us dreamers. and marchers. although there is not enough marching in the u.s.a. now.

propaganda rules. the poor are vilified. the ancient ones are neglected. traditions are dying. history is a story of crimes. we are killing the earth. what can we do?

nepmak2000 16. May 2009, 21:12

... read about the French Revolution, for instance? Or wait until Nature takes revenge. We are out of equilibrium, economically, socially, mentally. Nature seeks equilibrium and will compensate with or without CO2, active denial systems, DynCorp and Blackwater or some burka.

Maybe we will (re)unite when they land...?

:D wine

Villain 16. May 2009, 21:26

But we are Nature as well. We are not separate.
As for me, the nice option is colonisation - if we don't find a nice place to live in the next few hundred years, we may have serious problems (mainly with overpopulation).

prophetone 16. May 2009, 22:01

I'll quote this guy, Noah Counte:"If you can't love yourself, you can't share love. If you aren't at peace, then you spread discord."

I'll even do better than quoting, I'll say 'Amen!' to that statement above.
In church I do not use that phrase 'amen' but I think it is Ok here at your corner, Scott??

nepmak2000 16. May 2009, 22:19

@villain Yes, that is what -I think- we all here think: we are part of this Universe, hence part of this Nature. But Nature also interacts with us. Quantum physics may demonstrate the very subtle ways Nature does this. Then our 'world' is a world of make-belief: possibly some sort of hologram that we shape ourselves. A self-fulfilling dream so to say. Could we bring everybody to the same positive, respectful and responsible thinking that would change the world. At this moment we live in an epoch of greed and lies, a time about 'more' and 'have'. When we moderate this thinking we would find peace in ourselves and less nervousness or stress. Less stressed by "musts". There is nobody waiting should you die - so you must not. If we feel good the world around us starts changing. We must relax first, find satisfaction in the answering of "do I really need that?" Do you really need that third car? The latter being the way my wife and I educate(d) our children and a grandchild. When you really need it, you'll get it. But test yourself and think twice! Things can wait as well.
WE make OUR world, good question: what to do with the rest?

Villain 16. May 2009, 22:41

Perfect!
@ Prophetone - amen. I believe.
@ nepmak - you are absolutely right! That's what I say - think about your actions, about bringing respect, love and peace in your direct relations, in your environment, because you can change only this part of the world. Unfortunately, due to many sociolinguistic reasons, we are not able to spread our peaceful propaganda thorough the world.
Thank God, actually, that would be terrible to make people think the same, even if the reasons were noble

I_ArtMan 17. May 2009, 01:26

i think it's much simpler. "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." amen is good here @prophetone. this can be done right away and from now on. if we really wish for the common good of all mankind now and forever. then if we make our world with our imaginations, the world will gradually change for the better. what can i say, it's the kali yuga we are in. the raja yuga will have no lies or selfishness. the human race is in a perfect position to end disease and war right now.

@villain yes. colonization is obvious. but there's plenty of room still on the earth if people would just get out of the cities.

thanks dr. kampen for the words and the picture. what is it? i do hope we don't have to experience our own 'terror' though. so many innocent people get killed when the revolutionaries get in the habit of lopping off heads. as for me, i always knew i was destined to be killed by a stray bullet. i don't mind. at least it will be quick.

ok claude thanks. i was browsing teresa's blog earlier. i will add it after i go and read it.

nepmak2000 17. May 2009, 06:07

My answer is: tear Genesis 3 verse 19 out of the Bible to begin with. That would be a major step forward! Teach children at schools self-responsibility. their parents don't know that concept believing in the necessity of The State (for expensive 'benefits' and the luxury to be part of that scam). Get rid of 'proxy money' as we know it, it's worthless as we can see, just printed paper for which you can loose your house. Give every sane group of cooperating individuals over the age 32 one single 5 kiloton nuke just in case of. Forbid NGO's and other 'relief workers' to operate outside their own hometowns. And let us enjoy a cosy afternoon in some bar talking about God and world, while our wives clean up the house and take care of the kids again...
:yikes: :worried: :irked: :insane:

:chef:

prophetone 17. May 2009, 06:16

He, he!! U R funny, man!!

nepmak2000 17. May 2009, 06:29

I thought you would have asked: why age 32?

prophetone 17. May 2009, 06:48

Well I just turned 50 - perhaps I need 10 kiloton nuke, I mean...just in case?

theresainnamibia 17. May 2009, 06:49

Do you really think we'd unite when they land? Have you never heard abou Star Wars?
http://planetsmilies.net/star-wars-smiley-5472.gif

nepmak2000 17. May 2009, 08:00

@prophetone: No, the chance of frustrated, more elderly people getting Alzheimer or a heart attack (always) causing personality changes (see Cheney), is far too high. One could start allowing the elderly to grow their own crops, go fishing all day, herd some sheep or watch TV in that cosy bar to discuss God. For instance...
What I intended to say is that warfare using immature and sexually overhyped kids of both sexes (of course intended as such) is immoral and causing the excesses we do see day in and day out for no purpose or reason at all. But give a young father (at 32 most have started their families or ought to do so) a nuke (in my Gedankenspiel) and see the fear of using it and killing his and other families... Except perhaps the 0.5% of idiots that always are the ornaments of a society. To identify them and protect against themselves is one thing. Give them a portable phone instead and an iPod!

@..namibia: I've written about that many times. An interstellar society capable of reaching our planet is necessarily ahead of us. They would probably see us like we saw the first aborigines at best, if not as cows in our meadow. See how colonial powers at the beginning of the 20th century dealt with primitive tribes to know what fate awaits us. Countering them with our weaponry would be laughable from the onset. I believe that H.G. Wells has properly depicted the these and antithese of such encounters! But Wells saw far more than that. I don't share most of his ideas though, but some of them were visionary.
:chef:

Villain 17. May 2009, 08:42

I think, nepmak, you put to much ideology into your thinking  Remember, you can't make people think exactly the way you think  whatever if would be - regardless of the noble reasons - that would be a kind of rape on their minds

holdowicz-claude 17. May 2009, 13:43
