exquisite disappointment

, ,

ebay is after me for $7.26 cents. they're never going to get it

because i think the ebay auction is a giant scam. i put up one

painting for auction four times at a total cost of about $28.00.
nothing happened. not one bid in four months. i might as well

have put a note on a piece of paper and placed it under a rock in

central park.
this is the painting, called "boudoir", it's four by five feet. and

someday people will bid in an auction for it and the price will soar

into the millions. unfortunatly, i will be dead by then.

it's o.k. really, i never painted for money per se anyway. i made my

bed. now i will lay in it. i just wish i had a studio to paint in that's

all. it's pushing the cart up the hill to try to develop under these

conditions.

the flat ocean disgusts me like reading trivia
not a bone in my body can love
my hunger for ephemeral novelty
stimulates more action like an arrow
with no target i eat myself on the inside
i am gnawing on the bones i left baby tooth marks on
a century ago
the sound of crunching
replaces the sound of
no sound at all screaming

After posting to the earlier blog post, I then read this one. I'm glad that I was (at least partly) wrong. May the money keep flowing. Of course, doing what you love is not tied to money. But when the money comes around, that is nice. I don't know about you, but it is VERY difficult to be so detached that public acclaim means nothing.

for me acclaim is one thing and i am sorely in need of that. money... has never been my strong suit. although i have held my own in that department with a life of work. but in art, it's like money is water and my art is waterproof.

thanks for the comment.
i was paid for the 'i need it now' painting and changed the title to 'mercury.

then yesterday i got a commission for a painting of four beloved dogs with angel wings playing poker in dog heaven. it will be fun. got a deposit of $50. and a balance of
$150 on completion. pretty cool. the boardwalk is starting to pay off.

lol Scott, I hope that "boudoir" will soar long before you leave this world (and I hope that money won't spoil you - but that is a sure wish - you don't belong to people that get spoiled by money).

Here is a little image from my part of the world: It is finally getting warm in Minnesota, and at night, if you press your nose to the window screen, it has that lovely, lovely smell of the summer stretching ahead. . .

dear anonymous d,

i do remember that sensation from my years in illinois and new york.
thankyou for urging me to produce a new entry.

i've been busy busy busy... getting ready for the boardwalk season. printing and framing and painting new stuff.
