blithe bigotry

, ,

i don't usually get mixed up in politics and i am apolitical but this is an
important aspect of the problems the world is wrestling with today

http://www.crooksandliars.com/posts/2006/08/14/george-allens-macaca/

from move-on.org
Hi,

On Friday Republican Senator George Allen sunk to a new low. At a

campaign stop the Virginia senator singled out the only non-white

member of the audience--S.R. Sidarth, a young Indian-American

volunteering for his opponent--and called him "macaque" (a racial

slur meaning 'monkey'). He went on to say, "welcome to America." As

it happens, Mr. Sidarth was born and raised in Virginia.

Can you join me in asking the Republican National Committee to

take a stand against these tactics and withdraw support for Sen.

Allen? (You can also watch video of the incident through the link

below).

http://political.moveon.org/withdrawallen/

thanks!
this is what i wrote:

please take the 'honorable' prefix off when addressing senator

george allen.
to call a citizen a macaque.... to welcome mr sidarth to america

when he has been here all his life just exposes allen to ridicule for

being both bigoted and ignorant himself.

i believe a senator of these united states should have the presence

of mind to watch his words.

if you withdraw your support from him it will be in your best interest.
we wouldn't want the republican party to get a reputation for 20th
century backwardness.

let's just get out of this color problem. it serves no purpose.
it is a rainbow world in case you didn't notice. 'we the people'
recommend that there be no more derogatory remarks by our
leaders referring to any man or woman as inferior relative to his color
or other ethnicity.

All men are created equal. what are you afraid of? face your fears

and.... welcome to the future.

OMG! This is terrible!

racism is a bad thing that people like to show... just to show superiority, but which superiority????

I hate racists!

in brazil, people suffer a lot cos of the racism, and here is worst, cos, there are indians and blacks...

nobody wants to admit that has an indian or an african ancestral. this is bad!

the u.s. is a little better because we have an admiration for our indians somehow inculcated by our education and confirmed by certain movies. if i mention that i am 1/8 french canadian sioux to someone, then suddenly they are part cherokee. or algonquin or apache... you know, it's very funny.

but what's going on now is the color haters are trying to attach their racist opinions to the back of the terrorist cart. but we will not let them.

terrorists are people who have no country and who have no point except blind fanatical anger.it has nothing to do with color. it has more to do with dwelling in the past and loving negative emotions.

Oh - stupidity is everywhere, unfortunately. Ignorant people are a menace to this world - and when stupid people are in power the shit really will hit the fan.

This guy must be corrected in his misconceptions.

don't worry i think that this idiot must be burning with shame and regret. we can only hope that he will learn to understand how wrong he was. at the very least he will be more careful and keep his mouth in check from now on.
we have a lovely saying...: "please engage brain before starting mouth."

I don't know of George Allen but judging from his saying he seems to possess a pretty fucked-up brain.

I'd propose extensive psychotherapy for him but I wouldn't be too optimistic about that either. His situation seems really bad.

In fact I feel pretty sorry for him. Just imagine the terrible nightmares he must be seeing every night. Hundreds of aroused macaques hunting him down. Hard, hot and cruel! Gee man! Sorry Scott but I won't sign this demonstration letter. Just sent him my sympathies and my two cents for his medication.

Oh, he's in the spot light alright. I don't think the guy will loose sleep over his insults though. He's part of the game too stong.

That is incorrigible behaviour - one would expect more from a public servant. However, many politicians rely on this type of polarisation and stereotyping in order to garner support from extremists who think the same way. Still it is pathetic behaviour and he should censured by the government. Give him the boot, I say!
