How to make Starbucks Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccinos

, , , , , , , , , ,

These past few days have been really warm, and I've thought about just
stopping by Starbucks on my way home from school. Nevertheless, I resisted the urge and decided to look up the recipe online, knowing that The Oregonian had posted recipes for duplicating Starbucks scones and sweets. The recipe turned out pretty good, and surprisingly easy.

Recipe adapted from Yahoo Answers

  • 1 cup of milk (whole, reduced fat, or skim. For a special treat, add coconut milk)
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips (mmm... chocolate!)
  • 3 tablespoons chocolate syrup (Hershey's will do)
  • 2 cups of ice
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract

Blend it all up and.... you've got yourself a Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino! Experiment and adjust the proportions to your liking. The above recipe makes enough for you and a couple friends.

You may want to experiment by adding cinnamon, nutmeg, coffee, toffee, maple syrup, or whip cream.

Anonymous writes: My friend and I tried making this. It turned out ok. I obviously like Starbucks better but if you are trying to save money then its pretty good. Then again, we are only 12. I think we will be doing this more often. But first we have to change the ingredients a little. Thank you though! We liked it!

Anonymous writes: I always get mine extra extra sweet and they are really yummy. The only thing is I keep getting different recipes and they don't have the same ingredients in it as the way they make at the Starbucks where I get mine. Does anyone know where I can buy all of the ingredients to put into this frappucino? That way I don't have to keep on paying out $4.00 for one. Please reply.

Anonymous writes: Thank you so much for the recipe. I was driving my kids home from practice when everyone had a craving for a double chocolate chip but I didn't want to go through the hassle of unloading a car full of kids or paying the price for buying so many drinks. I searched for a recipe and found yours. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I didn't have all the same ingredients. I used Nesquick powdered chocolate in place of liquid chocolate and used mini chocolate chips. The kids say it taste better than Starbucks. We have watched them make the drink at the store a few times and I think it might be the same ingredients we used but with vanilla syrup instead of extract. Thank you again!
