My rant and rave page!

My stories, opinions, thoughts, and randomness

What's Rude, What's Not?

I was having a discussion with my boyfriend and some friends last night and then like my friend says a girl just came up to her and asked her where she bought this Guess jacket and how much it cost. And so she was saying she felt that was so rude because she doesn't even know the girl. Then we were saying what we think is a rude question to ask and everyone said ''being asked how much you get paid!'' okay but what do you think are some things we just shouldn't ask someone? Like I always thought it was rude to ask someone else how much is their rent or their bills. But my boyfriend says that's not rude. I don't know I guess maybe it depends on you the asker and the person and if their sensitive or something. I'm not a pryer (is that a word?) but it's amazing how many people are, and their so ballsy about it. They've no shame in asking you something rude. Really. Grrr.

Bridget Jones is Awesome!

If you have not watched the quirky Bridget Jones's movies then please go out tonight and rent the dvd and then after you've done that read the books!!! Yes, I am serious. I've just recently read both books and they were flippin awesome. Hilarious as ever, real and charming. Bridget Jones is a darling, i've decided. And if you have seen the movies but have not read the books then you're in for a real treat. The movie was just a taste of what to expect in the books, oh the drama drama drama's over that devil Daniel Cleaver and the uncommunicative yet sweet Mark Darcy continue with loads more incredulous acts of male "fuckwittage" and lovely Bridget's quest for the perfect relationship.

In my opinion I feel the movie did not do the book proper justice, there are just so many more hilarious parts that could have been added to the movie especially her mother's sudden personality transformation that got her involved with a Portuguese dish named Julio and then her involvement in criminal activity in which she's wanted by the cops! I absolutely loved the books and now I feel so empty, lonely even, that their finished. If only Helen Fielding had written a complete series of the adventures of Bridget, that would have been bliss. The last time I raved like this over a book it was after I'd read Marian Keyes' Watermelon. And you don't have to buy the books if you don't want to, download Wattpad on your mobile and there you have them. Sorted. Ok, of you go, and let me know what you think!

Leave. Kanye. Alone.

Everyone's talking about the VMAs that went down Sunday night because of all the commotion and controversial antics that went on, mainly centred around K. West.. You know i like Kanye West, i think he's one of the few brilliant rappers we have nowadays, and even after all the episodes he's had exposing his conceitedness and ego i still like him, his behaviour does not taint my opinion of him.. I don't know why people are going on about it, it happened, its over, get over it. This is what celebrities do, they behave badly, they think they own the world and they think their the shit, whats so surprising? So he went on stage and ruined her moment, ok that was sad for her, i'm not really a fan of hers (Taylor Swift), at all so i don't really care, but other stars behave like that all the time just not live at the awards. Another girl was saying today that Dr Phil is going to take on Kanye and Serena on the Larry King show, because he suspects Kanye has some sort of narcissistic disorder. Good grief, you'd think its the first time a celeb has behaved obnoxiously. When the female celebs do it their called divas, when Eminem behaves like a knob they enjoy it, Kanye does it now they wanna put Dr Phil on him.. Leave him alone. There must be something better Larry King can do with his time.

My Book List

,

I've been thinkin about the books i want for my birthday, which is only in december but i always have to plan things to the detail well in advance, and so i made a list of about 25 books that i want. The majority are classics because i absolutely love old classics! I've read a few but i only own one :frown: so here's a small example of about 10 of the books i want :

1. The Old Curiousity Shop by Charles Dickens.

2. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.

3. The Invisible Man by H.G Wells.

4. The Karamazov Brothers by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

5. Madame Bouvary by Gustave Flaubert.

6. Mansfield Park by Jane Austen.

7. The World According to Garp by John Irving.

8. The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.

9. Cat on A Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams.

10. The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.

I've only read two out of the ten, I'm currently reading The Karamazov Brothers online from my mobile application, it's a great read but its over a thousand pages.. Eek. If you know of any really good classics do let me know.

Ciao!

Sexomnia- ever heard of it??

As you know i write and research articles not only for my assignments but separately for me to attach to my cv. So i came across this subject Sexomnia and i thought i am freakin amazed to find that something like this exists! I have never heard of it, neither has anyone i know. The concerning thing though is that since the 90s to date there are men who have used this as an excuse for raping women and they HAVE GOTTEN AWAY WITH IT. So we know people sleepwalk and its common enough, but sexomnia is actually sleep sex. The person with this disorder finds themselves waking up in the middle of a sexual or indecent act with their bed partner or whoever, it is said they can become violent when their in this state and also very dominant. Apparently the subject has no memory of what they did the night before when they wake up the next morning. Do you really believe this? I feel like maybe it could exist ok, but how can the law allow it to be used as a an excuse for men raping women. Just because the man cannot remember what went down and had "no control" over what happened that means he isn't responsible? So the poor women that will remember it forever, she can go to pot, nobody cares about her since the man obviously didn't do it on purpose.

Leonard Andrew Spencer made history in May 2008 for getting acquitted as sleep sex had succeeded as part of a defense in Australia. In 2007 an RAF mechanic who claimed he was sleepwalkin when he had sex with a 15 year old girl was cleared of rape. In 1999 the sleepwalking defense was also used by a man who stabbed his wife 44 times then drowned her in the family pool. Also in 2008 a 28 year old man was cleared of sexually molesting a 12 year old girl after using a sleepwalking defense.

Getting a bit too common?? How do you rape a women and not know you're doing it? How do you stab a person 44 times then drown then and NOT know what you're doing? I'm sure those women were fighting back, you mean to say those men couldn't feel that either? I find it pathetic and ridiculous that that is what men can stoop to tryin to get away with rape and i just pray that in this country that excuse NEVER gets a chance to show its face in court.

I came I saw and I've enjoyed!

Alohaz Operalings.. So far my long weekend has been wonderful! My friend Ky and i have been behaving like little kids again we've gone for ice cream to the Milky Lane here almost every night! Ordering the same ice creams  and now i fear that i'm addicted to it, im craving it all the time.. Eek. I tried to have a creme soda float last night but i've never liked these float drinks but i did enjoy vanilla coke, whatever happened to vanilla coke?? It was my after school staple for months, that and the red T.V bar, and that poor chocolate had endured many a discriminatory remark from my friends, why do people hate tv bar its a nice chocolate shame (wat am i even on about..?)back to the topic- Have also been lounging around watching movies and sitting on the veranda and laughing at all kinds of nonsense. Went to a braai tonight, Ky's boyfriend has a cousin here so he invited us over, it was so fun to meet strangers and get to know them because i knew absolutely no one there but P.E people are so friendly!! And the city is really pretty i jus wish we came over before ramadan then i could have really checked out the scene. Ah well.. I was hoping i'd see wayne parnel too, just cos he's from P.E p: but that was hoping for too much looks like!! Hope you guys are having a super weekend!

Going away for a super long weekend!

Whooop! :hat: guess who is going away today for a little holiday? Okay, its nothing fancy and its only till Sunday but still, its away from home and i can enjoy doing nothing guiltlessly for 4 and a half days. My dad and his two friends bought a house a year ago in Port Elizabeth and we rotate it amongst the families and whoever wants to use it for holidays, so last December we had it and so this December we wont, and the other guy has got some people coming over from overseas who he'l put up there in October so my dad wants us to go for a few days jus so we can have it before its booked up. I'm taking my friend along! Cant wait to go! The weather here today is scorching, it is like a heat wave, its usually not this hot in spring, i love the heat but this is the nauseating kind, and i am dying for a Coke!

My mother is SO superstitious and i have always brushed it away as silly things but this morning there was a bee in the house, and because it was before twelve she said we'll have good news and then my dad phones to say we're going to P.E.. Hmmm, maybe there is some truth to these superstitions after all

I want books

,

Ten days down, twenty days more to go for fasting! Yay!! Assignment is completed, Friday morning i posted my Trade cards, yup i started my week off with a clear conscience!! My best friend might be getting married in December, and moving to Cape Town, i'm feeling a little bummed out about that. What am i gonna do now? She'll be so far away, luckily she'l have her own place so i have some place to stay if i wanna go on holiday but still, its not the same.. Anyway i'm happy for her, at least she's still going to be in the country. I'l count my blessings.

I've nothing new to report otherwise. I was thinking this weekend and officially decided that for my birthday this year i'm going to tell everyone to buy me books. I don't want anything else, i'l probably have to make a list, i think there's a Marian Keyes book due out here end of this year. I must get it!
