60% today, the guy said. It was overcast for most of the morning, but now, it's cleared off, and there's a half-moon shinin'. Don't know if it'd do any good to try and watch the meteors or not. I'm tired, anyway...the Schnauzer's been waking me up every morning by 7:30 or so, and going to bed around 1:30 makes for a short night. For me, anyway. Not that I can sleep...I spend most of the night rolling from one side to the other. But I'll need up early tomorrow, 'cuz I'm about out of coffee. Time to roast another batch, and it's best to do it before it gets hot. But first, I need a snack...

And this is in the shade...All I've done today was do some grocery shopping. I changed my mind about going back to Boerne...I couldn't go out there without the Schnauzer, and it's just too hot for him to be outside. Almost too hot for me to be outside. I've been making sure the bird bath has water in it, as we've got six or so Carloina wrens that hang around. Not to mention the sparrows, white-wing dove, bluejays, cardinals, grackles, mockingbirds, robins, and the occasional starling.Weatherman says it's gonna rain Tuesday. Lessee...how many days did he say it was gonna rain last week? But didn't? Ah, but this time is different. He says a weak cold front is moving into the area (meaning the temp will drop from triple-digits to around 95), bringing a 40% chance of rain with it. Oh...before the "global warming" alarmists freak out, this is our 46th day of triple-digit temps so far this year. The record is 69 days back in 1925, followed by 66, in 1923. And that's all I'm gonna say about that. More rain for this coming weekend, but only at 30%. I'll believe it when I step outside and get soaked.

...and what am I doing? Watering the yard. But I gotta do it while I can, since it's our turn (water rationing, you know). I wanted to get back out to Boerne sometime this weekend (where some of my posted pics were taken), but it's supposed to be triple-digits again, and I really don't want to take the Schnauzer out in that kinda heat. It's nice outside now...I should be walking him while it's still half-assed cool. Maybe when I finish my coffee...
Yup...it's been been pretty warm here in the Hub o' the Universe. The heat doesn't bother me, though. It's the damned lack or rain. Barton Creek's been dry since like last September. Even worse is Bull Run Creek...we'd run out there last weekend, and it was pitiful...barely a trickle where the falls are. And there's no relief in sight. Weatherman says either partly sunny and hot or mostly sunny and hot through the nest week or so. Well, it is is August, and this is Texas.
The Schnauzer's growling at me, so I'd better take him for a walk.

It's waaay past my bedtime, so I'm not gonna start something here I can't finish. (Well...not really...I'm just wore-out tired.)
Twenty-three and a half hours later, I'm right back where I was. But, I've had my Corn Chex, the Schnauzer has gone potty (and is resting comfortably on my bed), and that goofy yankee gal hasn't called me back yet. Huh. And she gets uptight when I don't call...oops...speak of the devil...
