Most of the tales from the Arabian Nights originated in India. These were taught to the Persians and then passed on to the Arabs who changed the characters' names when they were translated.
Contrary to popular opinion, in fact India was once the richest place on Earth (until the British invasion) and was the only source of diamonds until the 1800s. The biggest diamonds in the world came from India. Incidentally, the Peacock Throne, stolen by Nadir Shah of Iran is worth close to $1 billion.

You might've encountered the Aryan Invasion Theory (AIT) which describes how India was "given" its language and culture by some invading, nomadic race. It is a complete fabrication and misinterpretation of Hindu Vedic texts by British linguist Max Muller and is a result of colonial arrogance.
