Yes, you're missing all the important stuff.
If your income crashes, you'll manage. You'll survive. But recognize that if you stay put in a state of tolerance, you're already dead. What you've lost by staying put is far greater than what you think you'd lose by quitting.
Unfortunately most people who stay put in a situation they tolerate are so beaten down they don't even realize what a hideous situation they're in. You can see it in their lifeless eyes. They label their sorry, passionless state as "normal" when it's really emotional and spiritual destitution.
When you're stuck in a state of tolerance, you're already in an awful situation. You've already lost everything that matters. What you cling to is worthless dust. People think they need that dust to survive, but they aren't surviving. They're already dead. They just don't realize it yet.
When people finally wake up and realize some part of their life has become utterly empty and meaningless, they realize they've already lost everything. There's nothing to lose by abandoning that path and going after what matters... finding the path with a heart.
You are staring at a handful of worthless dust, asking, "How can I possibly through all this away? People are counting on this dust. I need this dust." I understand that when you're in that situation, the dust seems valuable and important. You've been taught your whole life that dust is what it's all about. But that doesn't change the fact that dust is dust.
Better to center your life around something that's real instead of devoting it to the pursuit of dust.
