Revealing the Truth to the World: Keeping the Pressure on to Stop the Slaughter The only way to stop the dolphin slaughter is to keep monitoring, advocating, filming, and bringing attention to it.
One of the main reasons that the killing continues is that very few people — in Japan and around the world — even know it is happening.
When the drive is over each day, the bodies of the dolphins are hauled away to the slaughterhouse for processing. Our team tries to photograph the butchering in order to get information out to the Japanese people, but we are constantly blocked by the Taiji dolphin killers.
The fishermen don’t want the public to know about their dirty, little secret, so they spend a lot of time hiding their activities. They know that if Japan and the world learn the truth about this barbaric practice, world opinion will immediately put it to an end.
The fishermen in Taiji told us not to take any photographs. They said that if our photos and video footage get out to the rest of the world, it would pressure the authorities in Tokyo to deny them permits for the annual dolphin slaughter.
We need to continue to return to Taiji to document the dolphin massacres and give the photos and video footage away to the media, free of charge. We will continue to encourage journalists to return to Japan with us. Exposing these crimes against nature to the world is crucial.

“ Flamenco was born in the middle of 19th century in Andalusia, south of Spain, as the common heritage of many nations, cultures, religions and traditions. Greek psalms, Arab songs, Gregorian chorals, Castilian romances, Jewish laments, the music of black Africa and the tradition of the Andalusia Gypsies, who came here from India, they all merged in the one, original, new music form known today under the name “flamenco”, expressed in singing, dancing and sounds of guitar.” From the film “Flamenco” by Carlos Saura
manana – these three words define the Spanish recipe of a long, happy and peaceful life. Siesta is a time for rest in the middle of a day, usually between 14.00 and 17.00, when the temperature is so high, that it is too hard to work. Within this time Spaniards eat late lunch and take a nap. But not only. They say most of the Spanish citizens were procreated during siesta… A midday rest gives people energy for night life, which is very important in Andalusia, especially in summer. Fiesta, that can be translated as celebration, having fun or party, happens very often – Christian holidays or old pagan celebrations, any reason is good to put on the regional clothes and party, even 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. Manana is one of the most popular Spanish words, meaning “tomorrow”. In fact it expresses very well the philosophy and attitude of the people of Andalusia – what you should do today, better do tomorrow…
