Life is hard in the mountains

daily life strikes back - by JMischief

never ending story

, , ,

now it seems my company will liberally abstain from any payback of my education costs. given that i behave, do whatever they want from me - will see where this will end  And last but not least: work the last months without holidays. i assume that my holidays will not be paid after my employment has ended. but hey it could be worse, if you embed with the mafia you usually can only quit by paying with your dear life. so i should be glad that in a few weeks i'm free again

in the meantime i have some difficulties with my future job... on one hand i have a job with a good selary, a lot traveling but also a lot of bureaucracy with the taxe returns and employment laws.
good that we're part of the european union so we have

freedom of movement of people, goods, services and capital

...otherwise this would be difficult

it's not possible to work in one country and live in another without filling out a bunch of forms, consulting a lawyer and a tax advisor. yes, the eu makes all a lot easier. :irked:
on the other hand i have a solid job within my country, which means less bureaucracy, but which is worse selaried. difficult situation.

"do you like door #1 where chaos and madness is waiting for you in return of a good selary, or do you choose door #2 where easy living but worse payment awaits you."

yes, the devils behind every door!

quitting not made easy...

, ,

as you may have guessed 'cause of the title i'd like to quit my current job and find a new challenge in a new job. but if you're stuck with the wrong company it's not that easy as you might think.

i'm working with a big company which has sites all around the world and is a big fish in the sea of healthcare. we're reporting an revenue for the year 2007 of nearly 40 billion USD. yes, i admit the dollar ist not a good currancy these days but never the less it's about 30 billion EUR (sloppily converted).

now you may ask "why the hell would you like to quit?". good question, let me try to explain:
last year we started an outsourcing project. first it seemed that we're only removed from the local reporting line to the global, but later on the managers seemed to have a brilliant idea and outsource the whole IT. after spending a horrible year with timelines which could not be kept and some mindbogging manager statements later i (and a lot of my colleagues) decided that we're not wanted anymore.
too bad that the local IT at our site shrunk to a skeleton which is now fed with external consultants. i won't mention that these consultants cost a lot more than the cheap IT staff, no i won't!

right now the transformation phase has started and knowledge transfer should take place. therefore the new service providers should be here to take over the service but i can't find a single person. i assume that the cosmic radiation makes them invisible to our eyes?! the impact of non existent transformation and staff makes this whole outsourcing project a complete mess and the company clungs to the very last straw - this is where i'm coming into play.

you see this is not the best time for quitting the job and the bad exchange rate nowadays, the expensive consultants and the huge minds in management makes it necessary that our company needs every money it can possibly get.

now i'm here and i would like to quit but to do so i have to pay some money back for the education i got. it's absolutely reasonable that this company needs the money from me or my future employer (whis is a small company with a handfull of personnel)... don't you thinks so?

the devils advocat

, , , ...

by checking my emails i just saw that i must be the devils advocat

i hit the magic number of sent emails

now something completely different (maybe some my.opera developers are reading this )
i know what is missing within the opera bookmark synchronisation!

... profiles ...

yes, wouldn't it be cool to have a profile "office" and a profile "home"? so it's not
necessary to censor your private bookmarks for office use

and by the way: it would be more user friendly if you can delete one or more bookmarks
(at my.opera) by checking a checkbox aside of the entry. it's quite a pain when you
have to delete a lot of them at once.

but i still think that this is a really cool feature

bookmark sync - groovy!

, , ,

wow, just recognized the new bookmark section in my.opera account. this is just great! now i have the bookmarks of the opera kestrel browser online.

so you can add and edit your opera bookmarks online. everywhere you go

will this lead to bookmark sharing? wouldn't it be great to share a selection of your best bookmarks with just one click?

it's done!

, ,

yeaha! not it's done! i'm ccnp!

today i attended the last exam of the ccnp track. passing score for the ont exam is 790 and i got 988 out of 1000.

so it's time to relax and drink a beer. maybe i will do the ccda exam but only maybe...
