quitting not made easy...

, ,

as you may have guessed 'cause of the title i'd like to quit my current job and find a new challenge in a new job. but if you're stuck with the wrong company it's not that easy as you might think.

i'm working with a big company which has sites all around the world and is a big fish in the sea of healthcare. we're reporting an revenue for the year 2007 of nearly 40 billion USD. yes, i admit the dollar ist not a good currancy these days but never the less it's about 30 billion EUR (sloppily converted).

now you may ask "why the hell would you like to quit?". good question, let me try to explain:
last year we started an outsourcing project. first it seemed that we're only removed from the local reporting line to the global, but later on the managers seemed to have a brilliant idea and outsource the whole IT. after spending a horrible year with timelines which could not be kept and some mindbogging manager statements later i (and a lot of my colleagues) decided that we're not wanted anymore.
too bad that the local IT at our site shrunk to a skeleton which is now fed with external consultants. i won't mention that these consultants cost a lot more than the cheap IT staff, no i won't!

right now the transformation phase has started and knowledge transfer should take place. therefore the new service providers should be here to take over the service but i can't find a single person. i assume that the cosmic radiation makes them invisible to our eyes?! the impact of non existent transformation and staff makes this whole outsourcing project a complete mess and the company clungs to the very last straw - this is where i'm coming into play.

you see this is not the best time for quitting the job and the bad exchange rate nowadays, the expensive consultants and the huge minds in management makes it necessary that our company needs every money it can possibly get.

now i'm here and i would like to quit but to do so i have to pay some money back for the education i got. it's absolutely reasonable that this company needs the money from me or my future employer (whis is a small company with a handfull of personnel)... don't you thinks so?

the devils advocatnever ending story
