The Weirdest of Me

About Going Blind...

Don't feel sorry for me......

It happened Christmas 2003...... I was at my in-laws house .... I looked in the mirror with my left eye closed and noticed that I couldn't see my face...... (same night I realized I had lost the stone out of my wedding ring)

So I went crying to hubby and his family (his family is the pits for support) I got yeah right kinda statements.....

So after the first of the year I went to see the eye doctor who sent me to a specialist...... I was told I have Ocular Histoplasmosis.....Histo is when the blood vessels in the eyes break and bleed into the eyes....Which means I will have no central vision at some point..... The only treatment (no cure) is to lazer the blood vessels..... In lazering the blood vessels it causes scars in the eye.... Which further causes blank spots.......

At this point I have no central vision in my right eye and I have blank spots in my left eye..... I had to give up my drivers license about 4 years ago.... I almost ran over a kid on a bike with my kids in the car because he was in one of my blank spots.....

I can still see good enough to use a computer with large fonts (small fonts are hard)...... Reading is very hard.....

Histoplamosis is cause by a fungus that lives in the ground and comes from bird droppings....... It causes at first a cold like condition......and you think nothing of it...... Then as the years go by it does damage either in your lungs or eyes........

I grew up on a farm with chickens and I had birds when I was in my early 20's....... So there is no telling when I really got it......

Again please don't feel sorry for me...... I have come to the realization that this is my life and I need to live it to the fullest...... The worst thing at this point is the driving...... I can't drive so I am stuck at the mercy of others..... There are times when I have needed to go somewhere (kids and such) that I just can't because of the driving......

Ok...... Now I might bitch a bit here and there about this since yall know about it now.......

Huggles,

Taz

I'm always pleased to see the assistive tools that all the operating systems come with today: bumping up the fonts, high contrast, magnifiers, etc. I've seen people with all kinds of vision problems (or no vision at all) successfully use a computer. I always want to shout, "hooray!"

Yes all those things help a bunch..... I'm most scared that I won't be able to do my graphic art stuff anymore......

They tell me that I might have sight in my left eye for years and then I might wake up one day and it be gone......It's a crap shoot......

Well, knowing this makes your graphic art stuff seem even MORE amazing since you put it all together with your bad eyesight. I can see how this could certainly contribute to your getting angry here and there.

So, do you know if in the Comments section of your Blog, we can make the Font LARGER via the HTML Font Tag? You know ... to help you see our Comments better?

Let me try a test and see if it works.
This is a Size 3 Font Test.

Oh well thanks for trying....... I do ok reading the comments if I have a high contrast....... I think that's why I like this background the best.....The white on black seems to work best.....

Yeah every tag I make ..... every wallpaper I make to me is something to be treasured.... Even the bad ones....

Taz
