2CH Katoomba ~ Blue Mountains Trip

I was very fortunate to win a double pass for myself and my friend Marie on the 2CH bus trip for a day up to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. What a superb day it was!

We began with breakfast with some of the 2CH Radio team, taking photos and getting autographs, then off on our 2 hours trip to Katoomba.

At Echo Point we left the bus for an hour to look around and take photos of Australia's famous Three Sisters and surrounding countryside. I spotted some beautiful native Australian birds and had a fantastic day!

Thank you 2CH!!!

Christmas Greetings to Everyone!!!

Where have the months gone?
Seems like in a flash!
I thought I'd write a Christmas Greeting to everyone before it's all over...

I WISH YOU ALL A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS!
Here are a couple of Blingees I made ~

Paul Newman R.I.P.

I woke to the sad news this morning that Paul Newman had died.
He'd battled cancer and lost his fight...
Paul was 83 yrs old.
He'd been married to his wife Joanne Woodward for over 50 years, a true long lasting Hollywood marriage!

With his stunning blue eyes and handsome face he became a movie star and he would always seek out parts that were almost always the bad guy.

He loved car racing and raced well in to his 70's!

His Newman's Own food company donated all the profits to charity!
How amazing is his generosity!!

Bill Bailey's Tinselworm show was so entertaining!

I very much enjoyed Bill Bailey's Tinselworm show at the State Theatre in Sydney on Friday, 19th September, 2008! :D

Unfortunately no photos were allowed of the show, but I did take a few of the absolutely beautiful Butterfly Power Room!

I bought an autographed photo of Bill Bailey as I wanted a souvenir to take home.

At times this extremely entertaining comedian was so funny that I had to look away from the stage so I didn't end up having an asthma attack from laughing!!!!

I loved his many sound effects and the light show was gorgeous!

This was his 2nd last show in Sydney and now he has gone up to Queensland.

Fantastic show & thanks so much for putting it on Bill Bailey! :jester:

A Pet's 10 commandments

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS...

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember
that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative,
ask yourself if something might be bothering me.
Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been
in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me
if you are there, because I love you so. ALWAYS!

Jeans for Genes Day - Friday 1st August, 2008

Here in Australia today, Friday 1st August, 2008, it's Jeans for Gene's Day!!!
It is always held on the first Friday in August.
Money raised goes to the Children's Medical Research Institute, it's their 50th Anniversary this year but help is still needed because 1 in 20 children are still affected by genetic disorders.

The first Jeans for Gene's Day was in 1994 and so far they have raised over $41 million dollars!
So all are urged to wear a pair of jeans today, make a donation to this worthy cause or buy a badge!
There are lots of Jeans for Genes items on sale all around Australia.

WHAT IS JEANS FOR GENES?

Jeans for Genes is a major fundraiser of the Children's Medical Research Institute.
This includes Jeans for Genes Day, events, exhibitions and other FUNdraising events throughout the year.

Chances are you probably know someone who has a genetic disease, because one in twenty children are born with some form of genetic fault. There are children with leukaemia, muscular dystrophy, genetic defects and many other disorders. The scientists at the Children’s Medical Research Institute are working to try to prevent these diseases before they occur in our children, or where that is not possible to develop better treatments.

Here is the website, they have a counter that updates how much they have raised so far today!
Check it out ~

Christian The Lion

I saw a lovely story of a lion, born in England and raised by Aussie's there.

In 1969, John Rendall & Ace Bourke saw a lion cub for sale in Harrods. The lion cub was cramped and lonely so they bought him. The lion was trusting and gentle with children. The local vicar allowed them to exercise him in the church grounds but he very quickly became too big for their flat. The only thing they could do was to reintroduce him to Kenya.

With the help of George Adamson - the lion guru (whom Born Free was based on) Christian spent a lot of time being rehabilitated in Kenya.

A year later John & Ace came back to Kenya but were told Christian the lion was now the head of his our pride and as such would not remember them. They went in search of him anyway. After many hours of looking for the pride they finally found the wild lion..... Christian the lion looked and looked at them then realized it was John & Ace and came bounding up to them to greet them!!! How wonderful!

After their reunion Christian went back, with his pride of lions, into the wild and was never seen again...
