.....OEPS! IT'S ME

Web Standards

, , ,

Funny to experience what they are talking about if it comes to Web Standards. Sometimes I don't know the hell what they are arguing about. HTML5, CSS3 and so on, I'm no expert. But I did learn some things about customizing this blog and also my Zod-online Blogger Blogspot. (see my sidebar for the link)
In both you can overwrite a whole lot in the Style Sheets to personalize your blogdesign. But then the trouble begins.
Your blog is looking swell in the browser and in the monitor resolution and the OS you use at home on your computer.
And then you watch it in another browser or in another resolution or (mostly the worst) on windows and Internet Explorer, OMG ugly. (you will feel like a nitwit)

This all said, I found out that at this moment both Opera and Google Chrome pick up very well all my changes in design.
Firefox and Safari still need an extra code in the CSS to show what I mean, IE6,7 or 8 are still not ready to understand my creative blogdesigns. I gave up to worry about that long ago. But there is hope, the word is spread that the new IE9 is ready for Web Standards finally. Let's hope so, cause than I can show off at work with my blogs.

And last but not least: if that happens we have to put a big feather in the ass of Opera who had the courage to fight for these Web Standards against Bill Gates in Europe. Chapeau!

Wedding in DordrechtOkay, one for the road then

Are you making use of CSS3 properties, by any chance? These are still only supported as experimental extensions by certain browsers. Can't fault them, really. When you can't truly rely on the official standards body, but only the cooperation of the other industry players, you've got to be cautious.

Like I said: I am no expert and no developer.
What I do is using Dragonfly to get into elements and wraps and objects and then change fonts, colors and yes make backgrounds transparent or put rounded borders and these kind of things.
Schalandra and Martial are my teachers in that. (sidebar, ask them)
The only thing I noticed is the Opera and Chrome browsers didn't need an extra trick to translate my css changes. smile
