A first (I think): snow on my birthday!

, ,

I remember the weather on one birthday quite well, though I was just a child at the time and it's a long time ago: when we came home from school, we quickly dumped our coats inside, and went to play outside in the sun, in just our t-shirts and blouses. That was an exception: it isn't often that warm on this date.

Today is an exception, too: not only did we have a White Easter, but the weather stays the same with wintery showers. This morning there was more snow on the ground than I've seen it this winter. And now it's snowing again. I can't remember any birthday with snow — so I just had to take a picture. This is the view from my window (with three very Dutch bikes), taken at around 11:30; earlier this morning it was a lot whiter.

Brrrt!

Happy Birthday Javawoman ... may this be an exceptional year with many such beautiful firsts for you ... ps ... raised in san francisco, california, usa, it only snowed one time in my childhood and our Grandma would not let us go to church that morning and play in the inch of it because my sister sneezed ... Peace aura

Thanks for your thoughtful wishes, auralane!

Ah, those childhood frustrations. When you just know something is a once-in-a-lifetime event and you're not allowed to experience it directly. I guess we all have those — I certainly do!

Lois, thank you for the lovely flowers! (The My Opera software made that into a link automatically for you.)

After our early bit of spring which cheered me up with the poplar catkins, the weather has turned cold and generally lousy, so those cheerful flowers are certainly welcome!

They say next month will be better...
