Testing MMS blogging

, , ,

Edit: finally, it worked! This is a screenshot from my desktop computer (Grace) taken with my phone. Note such an image post (including this one) is not valid or accessible, because an alt attribute for the image is missing (and cannot be provided) — I have deliberately not edited the BBCode generated for the image here to show how image blogging via MMS actually works.

I have now also tested using MMS to add an image to my selfportraits photo album (after temporarily enabling MMS, since the bug that displays the email address for all the world to see still exists).

In short: it worked.

In long: it went a bit weird, actually. I added a text to the photo (which I didn't for this blog post), expecting that to become the description of the photo. But it seems the first line of that was turned into the "subject" of the email and on this end that was turned into the "name" of the photo (dropping the original question mark at the end). And the rest of the text, which would have been readable for someone receiving the MMS on their phone, disappeared completely. irked

So I had to edit the photo to put that right — and add tags as well; so it's doable, but only in a pinch: it would be nice if at least the text of the MMS would be picked up as the description of the photo! idea
