INDIA IS A POOR COUNTRY.INDIA IS GROWING ECONOMICALLY AND IN FACT ITS GROWTH IS SECOND TO CHINA.INDIAN GOVERNMENT ALWAYS TALKS IN TERMS OF DATA N STATISTICS TO SHOW THAT IT HAS BEEN DOING FINE TO GET THE ECONOMY GOING N THROUGH VARIOUS PLANS CURBING POVERTY.
GROWTH RATE HOVERS ROUND 7 N 8 PERCENT. . . .POVERTY HAS BEEN ON DECLINE N NOW IT IS AROUND 30 PERCENT THAT ROUGHLY MEANS THAT THERE ARE 360 MILLION PEOPLE IN INDIA ARE POOR!
We hv Planning Commission to look after these things n it is always like a loaded gun ready to shoot data after data,and nothing more!
According to planning commission of India if a person earns 28rupees per day,he or she is not poor in urban area,and if one earns 26rupees a day in rural area,he or she is not poor!
It further says that two times' meal could be bought/eaten with 13rupees in your pocket!
SUCH BLOODY STATISTICS!
NOBODY CAN HAVE ONE-TIME MEAL IN 13rupees IN ANY PLACE OF INDIA!AND,THIS SHAMELESS GOVT. Fixes two times' meal with that meagre sum!
CAN A SINGLE GOVT.'S MINISTER OR CIVIL-SERVANT SURVIVE WITH 28 rupees a day anywhere in India?
A NATIONAL SAMPLE SURVEY CONDUCTED IN 2010,HAD FOUND THAT NEARLY 85% PEOPLE LIVE ON LESS THAN 20rupees a day!
According to the standard set by the WORLD BANK(that fixed One-n-Half Dollar a day as the benchmark),nearly 44% PEOPLE IN INDIA LIVE ON LESS THAN ONE-N-HALF DOLLAR A DAY.But,the world bank used the Income-Data as provided by the government and so the actual ratio might be quite higher!
The most practical estimate regarding poverty is that NEARLY 78(80) PERCENT OF PEOPLE IN INDIA ARE POOR. . . .that means that 820millions are living below the poverty line!
WHERE IN THE WHOLE WORLD #820 MILLION PEOPLE ARE POOR?
THE ANSWER IS 'NOWHERE'.
In terms of the percentage of the total population or POVERTY-RATIO,some sub-saharan countries could lag behind India,but,in terms of the number of people,INDIA IS AT THE TOP!
YES! INDIA HAS THE LARGEST NUMBER OF POORS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!
And,by faking data for it has hugely underestimated the various criteria while stipulating the poverty line,INDIAN GOVERNMENT HAS MADE A GREAT FUN OF POOR PEOPLE OF THIS NATION!
Such impractical n insensitive approach of this government has doubtlessly showed HOW MUCH 'OUT OF TOUCH' INDIAN GOVERNMENT IS vis-a-vis THE PRESSING REAL CHALLENGES(PROBLEMS)THAT INDIA FACES EVEN SIX DECADES AFTER ITS INDEPENDENCE!
Still sporadic instances of starvation are regularly reported,not to talk about the innumerable cases of Hunger n Malnutrition!
WHAT THIS GOVERNMENT WISHES TO DISPLAY BY GREAT TEMPERING WITH THE GROUND REALITIES?
It is really an act of sheer insanity to faking the actual scenario n putting thick blanket over its own lacuna!
IT IS TRUE THAT THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT HAS CEASELESSLY BEEN CARRYING WORTH MULTI-BILLION-DOLLARS PROGRAMS TO CONTAIN,CURB N ERADICATE POVERTY N OTHER PRESSING SCOURGE FACING THIS NATION,but,the implementation gets wired due to stiff beaurecratic RED-TAPISM n Rampent Corruption that allows just around 18 to 20 percent benefits reaching the target!
These things need urgent redressal n instead of doing such the govt. is trying to hide the all-pervasive obstacles in forms of the administrative hierarchy,lack of co-ordination n monitoring . . .!
IT'S HIGH TIME TO ACCEPT THE REALITIES N ACT ACCORDINGLY!
