Lagging far behind

Just looked at what I had written for NaNo last year and am more than a little disappointed in myself. I really did think I had more than what shows. I think because more is in my head, therefore I thought I had some of that down, but alas, no. I really do feel that Dark Side of Truth (working title but I like it) has lots of potential, I think. Futuristic Paranormal Romance, what's not to love. Two strangers, a male and female dectective thrown together to solve a dangerous issue on another world, but it's more of a ploy to remove them permanently. People they have worked with in the past have become scared of the power they each wield. Now they are stranded on this strange planet with no one to help them, but enough who want them dead.
Is my idea new and ground-breaking? No. There are no new ideas, only what each writer does with them will make the difference.
And now to try to get back into my story, which shouldn't be at all difficult since the word count is so low. I know I need to work on this and finish it before November rolls around again. As of right now I have no idea what I'm going to write that month
A few lines from Dark Side of Truth that I like.
Tip of the day: Find your own way to write.

Quote for the day: 'When you read a book, you're totally lost in your own private world, and society says that's a good and a wonderful thing. But if you play a game by yourself, it's this weird, fucked-up socially damaging activity.'

Justin held the door to the Commander's office open for her to precede him. Her arm brushed against his as she passed and a tiny spark flew. They both stepped out and as soon as they did Raine was hit with something she'd never felt before. Her shields went up so fast she swore she heard them clang.
