A New Day! A New Way!

Braving the elements!

I miss my pool...pouting big time

, ,

No, this isn't my pool. This was my dream pool until I found out how much it cost..LOL! I really had no idea, because the only other home I've lived in since moving to Florida had a pool, hot tub, the works. And all was included in the price of the home/property.

This pool, on the left was $285.000.00. And I couldn't/wouldn't have had this one as my choice due to the concrete. It's too cold. I like wood. Everywhere. Wood.

So, I went hunting and found a contractor that delivered my pool according to my lil' homemade blueprint. It took long enough and by the time it was done it was too cold to swim. eeeek!

But I got exactly what I wanted, down to the shape of the deck and a privacy fence AND located at the back of my property where I have a little walk to get to it, and it's so quiet and pretty down there.
Since this picture, I've had the deck stained/watersealed in oil, twice. The wood is darker and warmer. And I've added palms everywhere. I'm also adding a waterfall this summer with the boulders around the hot tub.

On the other side the deck is 16ft by 120ft and that's where the cabana is. That is very tropical, but still needs finishing touches. When I get it done, I'll share the pics of my favorite get-a-way!!!

When I have my first pool party...you're all invited!!!

Bring your camera. Everyday is a show & tell of the glory of nature, and all of her guests will be anxiously awaiting, basking in the warmth of their surroundings.

I'm all set up for work, even! The cabana is a work in progress. Still don't have it exactly the way I know I'll be happy with...but soon!!

Come on down, Scott!!!

That makes a redwood group bathtub look properly inadequate.

Had your 'ears on' did you ? I checked in at Naomi's and thought I'd have a peek. Swimming is something I've missed : that'll teach me to move from the East Coast to cowboy country !
That's a nice trick with the sidebars BTW : and colourful.
:psmurf

Hey!!Where is cowboy country? I need to visit your blog...soon!!!

The lavendar is the Opera Banner I chose. I wanted to accent the colors in the background photo, compliments of "Claude."
I just cut the height to 80px.

Thanks! I love color and when I see something else I fancy, it'll be changed again!!!bigsmile idea

Hi emenenus!! And, by all means...elaborate!!wait

Cowboy country near some you've seen on Superman movies ! Alberta is north of Montana and bordered by the Rocky Mountains on the west. Banff the Japanese go nuts over. I live just off the David Thompson Highway - #11 - west of Red Deer and east of Rocky Mountain House in Clearwater County. Texans say it reminds them of home up here - just more trees.

p.s. You have tried Google Earth, haven't you ? Type in Red Deer, Alberta and away you go.

Jill JilleeBean Friday, March 21, 2008 1:20:31 PM

Beautiful area! And yes, I viewed it on Google Earth.

My son and Dad used to fly fish in Blackfoot some years back and now the waters have become polluted, but they've had a crew in there working to try and solve this heartbreaking problem and in many surrounding areas.

I know that area well and have friends in Missoula and also, little Darby!!

Do you fish where you are, I know, what a question!?

Have you lived there all your life?

Johnoldephartte Friday, March 21, 2008 2:11:28 PM

Nope. I tend to forget I've left all my personal accounts behind when the last blog became toast.
I'm originally from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada which is east of Maine. Mother's family are from the island of Grand Manan in the Bay of Fundy, south of Campobello where FDR had his retreat. That is whale watching territory with a summer artists colony and unique geology. The waters are literally the most hazardous in the world. I lost two uncles to 'fishing' and tend to think of it as work. Mt brothers and cousins have no such bias and have dragged me along - just not for many years. Anyway, I'm sort of the only 'honorary islander' in the family because of the many summers I spent there among extended family.

Jill JilleeBean Friday, March 21, 2008 2:20:11 PM

Another beautiful area and how interesting, with its history! That's tragic about your Uncles...sorry.sad

I guess then being an 'honorary islander' keeps you safe and happy and really, what more could we ask for?

Being far enough away from the city but still close enough to enjoy and then retreat back to your safe haven, sounds to me like a wonderful way to live!

Johnoldephartte Friday, March 21, 2008 3:14:16 PM

I went West when young partly to get away from the temptation to go into danger for the money : the people who fish are compulsive and never happy doing something else.
Red Deer, being in a valley, is the worst in the province for air pollution. I lived 14 years in Medicine Hat - second worst ! I recall going into the country when a boy and being appalled at the colour of the air over Saint John ( pop. was about 110,000 ) as I returned home to the city.
Anyway I was in Montreal in 1968, back for a couple of years, Winnipeg, Manitoba for five years, Swift Current and Regina,Saskatchewan a year before hitting Red Deer in 1976.
Some drive around, I've moved around !
