You're right,Jill. The moments we steal from stressed life are the best. When we can listen to a stream flowing slowly, when we are watching a squirrel burying nuts for the next winter, when we are sipping a cup of coffee thinking of the past, when....Have a nice weekend far from the stressed world.

Brit 11. September 2008, 08:55

That is a great thought.

Jill 11. September 2008, 16:02

Thank You FIFINELEB, very nicely put! And, I agree!

Have a beautiful day!

Jill 11. September 2008, 16:10

Another of many reminders that keep's me on track, britthomsan.

Nice to see you and enjoy your day!!!

Lois 11. September 2008, 21:28

Great post!!

Jill 12. September 2008, 13:32

Hi Lois....I truly couldn't survive a day without reminding myself how fortunate I am to have what I have...to feel what I feel, especially on those days when discouragement creeps in and tries to steal what little peace of mind some days bring!

One of my favorite expressions/reminders is "To slow down and catch up with myself!"

Good to see you and have a beautiful day!!!!!

Marcus 14. September 2008, 02:47

It can be hard to remember to stop and relax sometimes because of all the stress we each face these days. This post is a great reminder that we all need to take a break to appreciate the beautiful days The Lord gives us! Many beautiful days to you, Jill!

Brit 14. September 2008, 09:06

That's very true.

Jill 14. September 2008, 21:34

"It can be hard to remember to stop and relax sometimes because of all the stress we each face these days."

I couldn't agree more Marcus, that there are stressful days and that there is stress in everyday!

I think that when we learn to appreciate how worthy we really are to 'feel good' without guilt, that is when we will take the time for ourselves and only then, when our eyes are truly open, will we be able to see the beauty around us, and only when we've recognized it in ourselves.

Thanks friend! And wishing you the same...only beautiful days ahead!

scott cumming 20. September 2008, 19:09

relaxation is an 'artform'

i call the pick summer weeds... i like weeds. especially dandelions.

Jill 21. September 2008, 01:33

Hi Scott!! How are you? Relaxation is so important to our well-being. It allows us to regroup and see the 'next' in a different light.

Dandelion salad is our favorite here. Was raised eating it at every meal. A little olive oil, squeeze of lemon, sweet onions....oooooweeee, getting hungry!!!

Summer weeds, very nice. Weeds are wild and beautiful, and too often overlooked.

So nice to see you! oh, I tried your recipe but sure didn't look like yours. (probably didn't taste like yours, either!) Was good though!
Hope you don't mind but I print out your recipes and add them to my cookbook. You really do have a passion for cooking/good food. And whenever I serve one of your recipes, I let all know that it is a 'creation' from the Art Man!!!!:chef:

Catch ya later, friend!! Big, big Hug!!  !

FIFINELEB 21. September 2008, 07:11

We usually eat dandelions here too, especially in spring before their blooming.

olive oil+sweet onions+salt+mustard+capers+ tiny pieces of rosted bacon and some feta cubes.

Have a nice week, both of you.

scott cumming 22. September 2008, 00:36

awww jill that's cool. and dandelion wine... how 'bout that?

Jill 22. September 2008, 04:51

FIFINELEB & Scott...You guys are making my mouth water...wewwww!!!!
I feel like I'm being 'wined & dined' online!

I hope you both had a great weekend and I look forward to catching up with both of you!

Oh, and Scott, I am truly surprised that you have not had a cookbook published....some of those dishes are just so creative. I think you should 'SHARE'...it sure would make a lot of folk happy!!!

Hugs guys!!!

scott cumming 22. September 2008, 23:46

night wolf 23. September 2008, 18:37

O.K now I`m hungry !! :chef: :D What`s cooking Scott!

scott cumming 24. September 2008, 01:01

i'm not sure yet...

but maybe... shepherd's pie. and a tiny salad. :chef: and an almond cake for dessert. yummmm.

Jill 24. September 2008, 01:32

I can relate, Scott! I do the same and it sure feels good (doesn't it?) when each project 'does' get finished. It makes it all worth it.
I guess we have that in common because I have many projects in the works. It makes life interesting..!!!!

Good things come to those who wait, so I'm just 'a waitin' for its arrival!

You know what would be really cool? A videotape, preparing each dish. Like your top ten recipes then followed by a collection. I could dig it!!!
Then (as your agent, hehe) I'll have to get you a spot on Martha Stewart...exposure, YES!!!!

I know, silly Jilly!! But I'm a (very) firm believer in ,"believing in oneself, for the possibilities are endless."

Have a Grand Night and a Wonderful Wednesday!!!

Hugs

Jill 24. September 2008, 02:28

There's always something good cooking over at Scott's, Amir!!

Hey, what's some of your favorite foods? Name your passion!! Curious minds wanna know! :chef: :eyes: :eyes: :wait: :D

scott cumming 24. September 2008, 04:06

i could never do the martha stewart show... my legs turn to butter thinking of how many people are watching. i can stand up and recite poetry to about twenty people though.

i still put seventy-five percent of my energy into paint.

Jill 24. September 2008, 04:40

And you 'do' have a lot of creative energy. That's no secret, though!!

Moambe (Congo)

Note the recipe:

Serves 4 Cost of revenue:
Level of difficulty:
Preparation time: 45 min
Cooking time: 45 min
Time off: 12 hours

Ingredients:
4 to 6 chicken thighs
1 box of palm oil
2 boxes of Moamba
1 box of sakasaka
500 gd'épinards chopped frozen
crushed peanuts
coconut powder
ripe bananas cut into slices
tomatoes and cut seedless
eggs crushed
ripe papaya cut into small pieces
mango ripe cut into small pieces
rice for 4 people
pili-pili
salt, pepper Abstract:
Recipe Congolese improved by our parents who lived there. It is a dish that is best prepared the day before and reheated gently about 30 minutes before proceeding to table.

Preparation:

Prepare it the day before, it is better.

In a large saucepan, empty the contents of two boxes of Moamba, add 1 / 2 liters of water and heated gently turning regularly, add 1 c. good tablespoon oil palm. Season well with salt (do not hesitate to make because the Moamba is initially bland), pepper and add pili-pili.

In a skillet, in 3 to 4 good v. palm oil, make brown the chicken thighs, salt and pepper. (attention, it splashes and makes nasty stains). Operation to make several times, depending on the size of chicken legs and their numbers.

When the chicken legs are browned on both sides, pour into the casserole Moamba and simmer over low heat until the thighs are tender (45 min). This should boil slightly during cooking.

Stir often. It should serve until the flesh away from the bone.

Cook sakasaka with salt and pepper, simmer in the juice of the box 30 minutes and add 1 tsp tablespoon palm oil before serving. Add a little water during cooking if necessary. Stir.

Cook spinach in 1 v. tablespoon palm oil, salt, pepper, stir and serve hot.

Pilez peanuts, pass them to the mill or mash them with a wooden spoon on a plate.

Cook rice.

Serve hot with rice and all ingredients (hot and cold), the list, in soup plates.
