Building Pc's 4 Dummies stage 1: Pick a case

When it comes to cases you have 3 choices, something new, something old, or something fom ebay in any case what matters is that you have that will meet your need. In most cases if this is your first build your either upgrading your current PC or fixing the white box that's been collecting dust in the garage. I suggest using a case with at least
If your cheap and your old whitebox is a 2000 model or later it most likely meets the minimum requirements I suggest BUT who wants just the bare minimum? Newer cases far exceed these stats and are moderately priced (unless your like super cheap) two models I suggest are the Sunbeam Transformer IC-TR-BA Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case and the XION II XON-101 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
The Xion is a midtower, means it's a little smaller than a full tower yet still has ample room
Pros:Moderately sized but still has plenty of room for expansion, 450 power supply already installed
Cons: Slightly tighter fit during installation compared to a full tower
The Sunbeam is a fulltower which means it's BIGGER, more space is better here's the specs:
Pros:More air circulation due to size and 4 on-board fans, plenty of room to move around while building
Cons: May take up a little more room than you have depending where your setting it up
These are both great cases and are both ATX form factor meaning they are compatible with 99% of the motherboards being manufactured
SO now you have your case do...What are you putting inside of it? Oh you don't know of course you don't because your a dummie! come back next week and I'll tell ya
- 3- 5.25 bays (size of cd/dvd burners)
- 1- 3.5 external bay(Handy for 52 in 1 usb reader)
- 3- 3.5 internal bays(size of your standard harddrives)
