Creating panorama pictures with Microsoft ICE/Live Photo gallery

, ,

Hi, I know it's been a while, but I've been really busy with work lately. Anyways, I figured it's time to let you guys know some more awesome software out there.
Todays topic will be Microsoft's ICE - the Image Composite Editor. This software can be easily used in order to create panorama pictures from multiple pictures. The cool thing about that is that ICE does everything automatically. You just select the pictures that you want to be processed and it does the rest: It deforms or resizes the pictures if necessary and then stiches them together.
The example picture shows ICE with an input of 3 images. With the resizable frame it is possible to adjust, which portion of the "stich" you actually want to save as a file.
Of course, depending on the quality of the pictures, there is a chance that ICE makes some minor mistakes, but those are sometimes hard to find.
Here's another example, using some more pictures. I personally got the best results, when I tried to have the lense of the digital camera in the same position for every picture. BTW: the digital camera used is noting fancy, just a regular 6 MP camera by Casio.
Meanwhile ICE was incorporated into Microsoft Live Photo Gallery, so you can use the menu there ("Create Image Composite" under "additional tools"?!) to start ICE and create your own composite pictures.

Have fun ^_^!
