Hi folks,
do you ever get in the situation where you wish you could organize things you know in a topic related manner, with loads of options to enhance and modify the stuff you write down?
I had this problem several times until I found a solution that fit my needs: good mind-mapping software. In particular I'm talking about "Freeplane". Freeplane is a free, Java-based (therefore operating system independent) tool, with which you can easily create complex mind-maps. Some of its features are the import of pictures, linking to files or websites and connecting items by named pointers. Furthermore it comes with a whole set of icons that you can use to graphically organize whatever your chart contains. Another cool thing is, that the links are stored as relative paths, so you can use a mind-map file easily on different machines, as long as the folder structure stays the same
.
Here's a little example how it could look like:
Of course there are other programs that bring similar capabilities and are also free. But I just tried this one and enjoy using it a lot. That's why it is Joe approved
