John Peel's Record Box has been set up expressly for the contributors of the ILM message board in order to continue the good work and provide a place for catching on files you might have missed. There is space here for 300MB ~~so files will have to be alternated according to demand.~~ Fingers crossed, hosting all our files shouldn't be a problem!

Please note this ONE post will contain ALL links which means you need to check the list because the main site feed ~~probably~~ won't notify you of any updates to a pre-existing post. But the Comments News Feed will keep you up to date.

Thank you for all the encouraging comments guys. It's good to see some of the 'old crowd' here with a desire for keeping this project ticking over. We shall complete this project I'm sure of that, but if it were easy it wouldn't be as much fun!

box_list.zip is what I have available so it might be a god idea to download this first before requesting anything. I'm pretty certain I'm up to date with all the files that were exchanged over at the ilm thread but I would appreciate a 'definitive' list if anyone has one please. I've missed adding the b-sides to some of the above due to a mixture of incompetence and the sorting of files on my pc. That would be general incompetence in fact. Will fix tomorrow.....or the day after! Also you will notice that I'm obscuring some of the artist and title names - for obvious reasons! The search bots are already picking up this site which is fine up to a point but I don't want it to disappear overnight before our work here is done (we don't want *too* many moves), ;-p I shouldn't think you need to be a cryptographer to figure it out though!

Thanks bluestocking - I'm here for as long as the good folks at Opera allow me to be. Great Browser by the way. Worth checking out.

On the subject of hard drive failures I've just replaced mine after repeated crashes created enough bad sectors causing it to refuse to boot. The replacement I bought (brand new) failed within a couple of hours of operation. It happens! The replacement for the replacement seems to be working fine.

You guys and gals may already know this but, check that S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis Reporting Technology) is activated in your BIOS - this will notify you of all 'predictable' failures giving you time to move your files elsewhere. Even when it finally stops responding at boot up you could still be able to rescue data from it by slaving it to a working computer which is what I managed to do and have done on other numerous occasions. It's all dependent on the type of failure but don't assume all is lost and chuck it out!

I'm re-writting this page to feature the complete list with catalogue numbers and record sleeve scans - where available. It's looking pretty good but there are bound to be errors so once it's up you can all pick it apart. The idea is to make it more informative and, well, groovy looking! Will probably go up mid-week at the latest - along with more files of course ;-p

Thanks for all the encouragement from everyone and to Chris for his list - looks like we have some missing between us so I'll be bugging you shortly for a swapsies session!

Another batch uploaded brings the total to over 40 - along with a couple of files updated to include their b sides. I made a mistake regarding the easy teeth track (thanks for pointing that out keefus) - sorry to raise our collective hopes! I've copied all tracks onto this pc now so uploading is not a question of linking up external drives anymore! I still need to get back to Chris to sort out our missing tracks as well. There is other movement going on beneath the surface too that I can only hint at right now for fear of jinxing it, so fingers crossed! More files upped over the weekend probably...any requests? Re. Yami Bolo 7'': Well spotted Jon - go for it, that'll be the b side sorted out

Also the question about rotating files shouldn't be an issue. As mentioned a couple of comments back, I think I should be able to get everything up here by spreading them across two or three hosts.

Am I to assume that each and every (for the sake of argument here) Yami Bolo 'flip' features an alternate mix/Version of the A side? That does sound reasonable I have to say. If true I'm sure Jon won't be too dissapointed. It's unlikely to be a waste of £3.49 in my opinion. I'd still like to hear it all the same.
