New times

There happens something in one year: There comes a "new time" to Europe; means: One day has only 23 hours, another 25 and within these two days, there comes also lots of work.
The last Sunday was one of these shorter days. The clock has to go forward for one hour. Today, many people have radio clocks (especially in the OS), but lots of clocks still has to be fixed manually.
But why do we make that? This summertime-wintertime-thing has in Germany one official reason: You don't need so much energy, because you have more day than night. This WAS the official reason when implementing this, but today we know: This is not true. We need more energy, not less (or the saving is nearly nothing), because the heater runs longer and today, we have energy saving lamps, so the saving is less again.
Are there any effects on the humans? Yes, you could get mental damages by that, because of the shorter/longer day. Your daily frequency gets chaotic (maybe you noticed that, when you wake up and look at your watch...). You miss one hour that you need or you have one more and don't know what to do with that. And there are also problems in many technical gadgets and websites, so many people get angry and there is a damage again. And just imagine: You own a shop where you sell watches and clocks (or you own many watches and clocks) and you have to fix all the watches and clocks. I don't think that this is funny.
Why does this still exist? I don't know. In Germany, many politicians are discussing about that, but they didn't get any result for many years. There are many bad aspects about this topic and no really good ones, but we still have to fix the clocks. I don't understand this.
Hopefully, you don't have any problems with this summertime-wintertime-thing (except of, how to fix the clock/watch next time), but just remember: Life goes on and you will get the hour back.
