Taste of the Himalayas Restaurant

Taste of the Himalayas is one of the most impressive restaurant I have ever been; the owner Shrawan Nepali is also the coolest restaurant owner I have ever met. Last night, my husband and I went to another fancier Nepali restaurant in San Francisco and it reminds me how much I loved the food, atmosphere and Shrawan's passion at Taste of the Himalayas. We will definitely revisit it pretty soon.

(The above is a video I shot the night on November 30, 2007. Isn't Shrawan charming?)

What We Ate On November 22, 2007 - Thanksgiving

Time flies so fast. I keep putting off posting an entry about my sweet parents-in-laws' Thanksgiving dinners . This year, I don't want to repeat regreting about it. Even though it is three days late, hey, it still is better than not posting it at all, right? Let's take a look at what my hubby and I contributed to the starters.

Yes, our husband-and-wife homemade pot stickers just got famous this year. Well, we are not very good on preparing food for people, so that those pot stickers really made us proud.

A Good Deal on Wine

Don't get us wrong. We are not alcoholic!! Are we?! Oh, dear.

My husband and I have had great companions - bottles of wine these several days. I've never been good at wine tasting. Sorry, there are no fancy words or professional review from me on these three bottles. What I am trying to say is I got a great deal on purchasing them at one Longs Drug store near by; each bottle only cost $6.99. Three of Beringer's (Founders' Estate) are very tasty as far as I can tell. I regret for not buying several more bottles. Too bad, they are not on sale anymore.

The lighter red wine - Pinot Noir is my favorite one. Lovely smell and freshness. I am not sure if synthetic corks on Beringer's are environmental friendly comparing to the traditional wood cork. Some people think synthetic ones can avoid ruining the taste of wine, which makes sense to me; those tinny pieces of corks floating in our wine glasses would be nasty. Please drop me a line if you know more about synthetic corks. I am just going to enjoy our wine now. A toast to everyone!

Pre-Thanksgiving Treats

Tomorrow will be Thanksgiving holiday. I cannot wait for a feast. Before all the fancy and heavy food. Let's try some of my simple starters. They are for lazy people like me.

Healthy Apple Dips
1. Slices of an apple
2. One big spoon of Pistachio butter ( I am not sure if it is organic or not. It was purchased from Old Oakland Farmers' Market)
3. Several pieces of Parmesan cheese
Trust me. It is a yummy treat.

Crunchy Stuffing Bread
1. Tear stuffing bread into small pieces
2. Shred Parmesan cheese on the top
3. Bake it for 5 minutes at 375 degree F
Look, how easy it is!!
